Question Any way to search by a phrase

I find it a bit frustrating that if I try to search by a phrase, the search feature searches for each word in the phrase, regardless of how I phrase it, put quotations around it, etc.

For example, I am looking to pull up some threads on Raviana's Fat Free Yoga Lose Weight Feel Great. I tried searching for Lose Weight Feel Great, and the search feature pulls up threads for each word in that phrase.

Is there any way that the search feature can be changed to allow this kind of search?

I did this:

Raviana+Lose+weight+feel+great

and it seemed to narrow things down a bit. Maybe someone else has a better idea.

Don't use VF's search capability. Go to Google, type in forum.videofitness.com: Raviana's Fat Free Yoga Lose Weight Feel Great. Look at the first set of results and click on More results from videofitness.com. You get this.

Thanks. I tried this and it still pulls up the individual words, such as 'Feel'. There was one thread that did have the full phrase, though.

Thanks, I'll try that. I don't really think I should have to, though. I should be able to use the search feature on this site instead of going elsewhere to search within the threads.

Use the "tag search" feature! Unfortunately, it will only bring up threads that have been tagged with that particular phrase (which is why it is important for everyone to TAG THREADS, whether you've started the thread or not--I added one to this thread), but still, it's a much more specific search tool.

I guess I'm just used to it. I used to be a roving software trainer at NIH (National Institutes of Health) where they had a huge and major website. Yet, you couldn't find anything on it. That's where I learned to use Google to search sites. If it were really easy to have good search capability, every website would have it. I agree they "should", but hate to waste my time when they don't.

Laura, I wanted to tell you that the link you shared with me was incredibly helpful! I found several threads I ended up subscribing to so I could go back another time for the info.

Toaster, thanks for tagging this thread

Yes, if I'm searching VF by using a single word that's somewhat unusual (like Mixxtreme or Buti) I know I'll get related threads. But if I have a string of more common words, I do end up going to Google and it scours VF pretty good and pulls up what I'm looking for!
