Shingrix Vaccine: Part 2

I had the first shot in January and am supposed to have the second one by mid-June. I called the pharmacy and they aren't doing any vaccinations. (Not that I want to go inside there anyway.)

I just read part of an article about GlaxoSmithKline worrying about profits as nobody is ordering the vaccine due to the pandemic. It's hard to feel sorry for big Pharma when they went from a shortage to a glut.

The pharmacist said it was OK to have the second shot after the six-month window. Another article said they didn't recommend starting over.

Anyone else just had the first shot and wondering about the second?

i was surprised when i got called for #2 exactly 2 months after #1, therefore no, i'm not between shots.

however, a friend of mine didn't get #2 until maybe 8-9 months after #1 because he had to get a couple of surgeries.

he was fine for the 8-9 months in that he didn't get shingles.

My 6 month window was up in April. Yes, I totally procrastinated. When things open up here, I'm going to email my primary care doc and see what she recommends.

Being math-challenged I realized I have to July 20th before my six months is up. Who knows what the situation will be by then...

I had the first shot in February and I have been concerned also. Hopefully things will be a little more normal by July.

I went a got my 2nd shot on Monday. I took Ibuprofen an hour before I got the injection. I took another before bedtime. I had the same response as I did with the first one. Just a slight soreness in my arm. In fact, it is still a little sore if I rub it. I did use arnica gel to help with the soreness.

The question would be whether he actually needed to get the first shot again, since he was outside the window. But I assume his doctor determined that he did not.

My husband was also supposed to get his second shot this month, but the pharmacy canceled. I don't know when he'll be able to get it.

I forgot to get the first shot!!!

I have been trying for a couple of years to get it
Then no one had it. I forgot, remember, ask, no vaccines available.

Maybe now I can get it.:l

I'll call the pharmacy early next month to see of they are giving vaccines. If not, I might have to make an appointment with my GP.

Getting the shot is stressful enough and now worsened by current conditions!
