Sell me a spin bike

I am considering a spin bike. I am a novice, but have taken spinning (quite a few yrs ago) at a local community center. I’m not wanting to go the Peloton route because of price, yet want something that will hold up. Any suggestions/advise on brands/models and what I should be looking for would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased a Sole Fitness SB700 a couple of years ago as a Black Friday deal from them and love it. I use the Peloton App and/or Studio Sweat on demand. It has held up well for me and was adjustable.

I bought a basic spin bike from a friend for $300 over a year ago. It's and HMC Trainer 5008. I think it retails in Canada for about $700. It's basic and I've sat on $1500 bikes (heavenly) but it gets the job done. I subscribe to Studio Sweat on Demand and love the variety. Those workouts are tough! Plus if you don't have a bike, there are hundreds of other offerings too. Good luck

I have a Johnny G and love it. It's basic My first I had for 10 years but DH left in Tallahassee when we moved. He said it was in the garage and didn't think I still used it No prob I bought a new one!

Definitely second the Johnny G. Great price for a solid product. I gave mine to a neighbor when I got the Revmaster ($1200) in 2008, which I love, but if I ever had to buy another spin bike, I'd probably go back to the Johnny G.

I have a basic ProForm spin bike and it performs beautifully and has held up with absolutely no problems for years. The only thing that I would recommend is that you invest in a better seat or gel seat cover (very inexpensive) for your comfort.

Thanks for your suggestions. Johnny G isn't one I looked at. I will add it to my list.

I agree that Johnny G is the place to start.

I came across this when I was looking into spin bikes. I changed my mind about getting a spin bike though because I already have a treadmill and don’t really have the space for both.

I bought a Sunny spin bike years ago when Cathe was first producing spin videos. It's been a great bike. I was a complete novice, and it was and remains just perfect. The model I got has no electronics; it has never broken! :-)
