I do get why tummy or sexy or whatever bugs people. Tone bothers me more; but my husband and MIL OTOH hate when instructors use the real anatomical words. MIL says she shouldn't have to have an anatomy course to use a workout. I was in health for 20+ years so I joke with her a lot.

Buncakes -- though, thankfully, I have only heard one instructor go there...

Funny "word" story: Yesterday, I did Cuts & Curves, and Gilad was using tubing to work the "buttocks." (Or as he says: butt-TOCKS.) I was exercising sans tube. My youngest said, "Mommy, you don't have buttocks." Um...what? Turns out, she thought that buttocks must be referring to the tubing he was using, LOL. I quickly educated her on Gilad's favorite word for the glutes.

I'm a little on why the need to apologize for naming our pet peeves when it comes to words we dislike in diet/exercise. Isn't that the point of the thread? To be able to vent whatever irks us? I mean, not all pet peeves are rational, sometimes they are, and sometimes things just annoy us for whatever weird reason! lol

My peeves are definitely with DVDs/fitness industry and what I have to listen to when I work out, not with what individual posters say. If I see a thread titled "need to tone my tummy, what do you recommend?" I'll reply with my favorite abs/core workouts. However, I'd never buy a workout called "Tummy Tone" and any instructor who went on and on about tummy toning would get Joni-O'd.
