Agreed. I've heard both good and horror stories about tubals. After our 3rd child and because it's was the less invasive procedure, we decided on a vasectomy. I mean, it was the least my dh could do considering I had gone through three pregnancies and births. That was 6 years ago and he's had no complications with a minimal recovery time.....

it's worth looking for.

the most uncomfortable part was the after check.

they inject dye to make sure the tubes are sealed
aaand I forgot to take the recommended pain killers before the appt.
a few min. of "OWWWW" then all done
(actually i went on a swearing rampage that cracked up the entire office)

after that?
never had a problem

I had a tubal litigation many years ago and had minor side effects. My doctor warned me that I might end up on oral contraceptives after the tubal because my menstrual cycles would revert to their old tricky, unpredictable ways, and he was right -- they did revert and I went back on the pill, for a little while anyway.

Cristinalatina, I'm sorry you have to encounter things dissuading you from a decision that should be entirely yours. To quote the Wicked Witch of the West from "The Wizard of Oz": "Oh, what a world, what a world ..."

It is something to consider. A vasectomy is an office visit. After my last pregnancy that was the deal for us; I would have the baby and dh would have the vasectomy. It was cheaper, easier, and a far less invasive surgery and recovery.

My dh was fine the next day and has had zero side affects/complications.

My husband had a vasectomy done 24 yrs ago when my second born turned two years old. It was done right in the doctors office, took a couple of days for him to feel better. We had spoke with a few doctors and were told that it was indeed a less invasive procedure and recovery time then it would be for a women to have something done.

Thanks friends, but there's no chance my husband will have the snip, mostly because he does desire more children.

Cristina,
It sounds like we are both in a similar situation only I have three children.
I'm squeamish so I can't even read up on what all the different procedures entail
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I never had a follow-up where they checked to see if the tubes were sealed.

Cristina, it seems to me that you and you husband need to deal with your difference of opinion about more children before you worry about battling with a doctor.
