I taught yoga today and did a breathwork/meditation from Yoga with Tim.

Yesterday I did a yin-style practice, "Solar Powered," from Yoga Journal's Your Daily Yoga. It's available online; I really like the half-saddle variation:

Day 29:
~Reading: The Daily Stoic , day 18
~My own practice....half forward bend, side stretch/hip opener over a bolster, deer, fire log, twisted roots, reclined deep shoulder stretch, half frog/sphinx, half happy baby

Day 30:
~Reading: The Daily Stoic , day 19
~MFML: Relax into the Evening - this is a favorite gentle yin, all done at the wall

Beth: I like that version of half saddle! I’ve done it with a softer foam chip block under my hips.

Pam, I like it in part b/c that pose is tough for me without the extra height. I've done the full version using a chair/block combo which is kind of cool too.

Today I finally did one of my favorites, AM Yoga for Your Week - I used to dutifully get in this DVD at least 1x/month but have been slacking off a bit. I did the Backbend practice, which is probably one of the ones I do less often, but I really enjoyed it.

Because of a few problems, I started later than I'd intended and haven't started anything asana-related yet, but I have been able to meditate and read.

Days 1-15 (January 5-19): meditation (varying lengths), reading

I hope to do something with asanas later this week and have a specific idea for how I'll start. That meditation is not simply a substitute, and I intend to continue it regardless of what other "physical activity" I may do later.

So is anyone currently doing any yoga reading?
In previous years, there was more emphasis on reading and study (to a point where more participants were reading or studying than not doing so), but it probably wasn't "required." My reading isn't quite "yoga reading" as such, but it's not completely unrelated either.

Your presence also reminds me of yoga nidra, which I somewhat intend to explore too, though I have only an outline of what I may do. There's an outline of a procedure, available free online, and I may try that in addition to what I've been doing the most historically.
