Can you get up off the floor without using your hands, arms or knees?

I saw this on "The Doctors" yesterday. I admit I'm overweight and I had to use my knees. I might should have tried it again without using my knees. I wonder if I lose more weight can I do this without my knees?

Can you get up from this position without using your arms, hands or knees?

I'm not quite sure what they mean. You have to straighten your knees to get off the floor.

Yes I can. But I am not a big believer in these type of tests. My SIL could never do this even in her twenties. She is now 77 and still plays tennis and has an extremely active life style.

Thanks for mentioning this about your SIL.

I've wonky knees, but I'm still working on getting up unassisted with just my inflexible ankles (plus arch pain) - while barefoot, anyway. All dancers and many yogis try at this, sometimes much of their lives. I only started a couple years ago, though. A lot of the secret to this, is having very, very open hip flexors and exceptional core strength at the same time ... but that's the dirty little secret nobody tells you ...

Wow really? I must have better hip flexors and core strength than I thought. I can do this without any problem. That's good to hear, as I do have hip issues
