Ok, tell me about Classical Stretch

So, I guess according to a lot of people, a good mobility/flexibility workout is those of Classical Stretch.

Now, I know nothing. I'm the Jon Snow of Classical Stretch, I know nothing. I did a search, but dang, that was a little overwhelming.

So, I just need to know what is a good one or two to buy. I'm just looking for a nice workout to help me with mobility, esp in my back, hips and legs. Those are the areas where I get stiff and sore the most.

Thanks in advance!

Does your local PBS station run it? Mine does, weekday mornings around 5am. If you get PBS and your station plays it, Dvr a few episodes to try.

Another option would be to sign up for streaming for a month. $15 and you can try everything they have to see if you prefer Classical Stretch or Essentrics. IMO, it is $15 well spent.

These will be PERFECT!!! I can add these after my workouts to cool down and stretch out.

Thank you so much!

Hi!

My favorite out of Pam's list is combining the two Barre' workouts. I often use YouTube while traveling.

If you decide to tryout the streaming for a month you won't be disappointed.

Have fun and enjoy!

I have never done CS, but have done a few Essentrics and was not impressed. I'm probably the odd man out here though.

My absolute favorite stretch is Gentle Yoga, part of Travis Eliot's Ultimate Yogi set. I also really like Yin Yoga in the same set. I don't think these can be purchased separately however, but you could email udaya and certainly ask.

I also like doing Cathe's Stretch Max doing 2 of the 3 segments back to back.

youtube searches for "Gentle Yoga" or "Deep Stretch" has alot of freebies. I especially like those by Five Parks Yoga with Erin Sampson.

The biggest thing that separates Essentrics/CS from other stretching programs is the movement. Essentrics is dynamic so it includes moving through a stretch.

There is a learning curve with this technique. I will admit years ago when I found the program (at VF), I didn't quite get it. Obviously I love it...and I really believe that everyone can benefit from including this technique in their rotations.

It's a great suggestion to check out your local PBS, library, or Pam's playlist. ETV is also a huge value...$14.95 and you get to sample virtually everything.

In general, CS episodes tend to be stretchier...although Ultimate Stretch is pure bliss. So much good stuff...give it a whirl. PM if you have any questions.

I didn't get it at first either. It took me a few tries before I finally started to understand the method. I am still quite new to it, but I do really enjoy the workouts now, and find that doing 2 to 3 CS episodes per week are working nicely for me. I can see myself getting to the point where I do CS/Essentrics as my main workout focus. I have stopped purchasing other types of workouts although I do still use many that I still have.
