It SHALL be a HAPPY year too!!
My mantra for the year is "Getting it DONE in 2021!"

Hope everyone has a great start to the year - all 'first day' goals met, and may this be the beginning of building momentum to develop into a FABULOUS year!

Cyric was adorable this morning. I was doing Lee Holden Qi Gong and he sat on the floor in front of me and watched the TV, just looking so interested! I don't know if it was Lee's voice that captivated him or more likely the water behind him but it was just so cute I wanted to smother him in hugs and kisses. D'Argo never paid attention to TV but Chianna once watched part of the Superbowl, she watched the chickens on Dr. Pol and smart girl watched Shaun T with me one day. This is the first I've seen Cyric look at the TV.

Love the enthusiasm, Helen!

Just pasting my VF exercise marathon check in. I will be back tmrw!

I didn't sign up for a morning time slot (good thing since I stayed up till 3 this morning!) but I started at 10:48 AM (MN time) and did days 18 and 19 of Lee Holden's Qi Gong 30-day challenge, then I did days 1 and 2 of Lucy Wyndham-Read's Fitness Advent calendar (only a month late!) and finished with Fightmaster Yoga -Yoga for Beginners at Home 30-day challenge day 3.

For my 6 PM time slot I started a little late bc our walk got wonky with other dogs out (Cyric is terribly dog reactive) so at 5:10 my time I got started with day 13 of the Crossrope 14-day beginner's challenge (that I started last February! ) and then Lucy's calendar day 4. I was supposed to have started hers earlier in the week to be on day 4 today but never did. I'll do day 3 tmrw. Anyway, it was fun knowing Linda was working out at the same time. If not for this marathon I would not have worked out this evening but doing so afforded me some extra calories! While jumping rope, though, I was so thankful I don't have a weighted rope bc I could not stop tripping no matter how I jumped or what I tried. Very frustrating. Maybe that 3 AM bedtime catching up to me??

Well, day 2 challenged me with "life gets in the way".

Daughter said she'd had abdominal pain for 3 days. Hoped it would go away, but wasn't. Cut to the point - she has stress-related reflux. Stress about her final honours thesis. We spent hours waiting for after-hours doctor (started the yoga in this bit), who said to go to emergency department of hospital, where we were for another couple of hours. Finished yoga when got home. Rained ALL DAY - super light misty kind.

Took Alice for a walk IN THE MIST.
The rest of the evening was spent with DD, checking how she was feeling, "do you need anything"? Making cups of tea...

Happy New Year everyone.

Helen
- Hope your daughter is managing a bit better. Sorry about her stress load.

Vannie
- Nice way to start the new year. Keep it up.

Sandy - Hope you're having fun with Caroline. I am modifying a lot more than you would probably have to. Pistol squats, Bulgarians, lots of crunches and push ups, 30 min of burpees this week - oh my. Oh why?! My first goal is no injury. Last time I did this many pushups I hurt my shoulder.

Looking for suggestions for cardio for my active rest day. Not sure what I want to do with that one day.

Helen, It's a bad year for stress all around, so I hope the added project pressure is over soon.

Vannie, I'm not a pet person as you know, but since I now sit at the window waiting for a bunny sighting, maybe I'm becoming one.

buff, I did a 15 minute KB lower body Caroline the day before I started Beginner Epic which started with 30 minute lower body... Big mistake. So many lunges in each of them left my quads screaming walking down stairs. Today I am finally able to walk down normally, but today was full body 30 min total body with more than a few lunges. I really like the format with 45 seconds on 15 off and the 30 minute time frame. I'm going to run through the 5 classes again and decide where to go from there. I don't think I want to do 60 minute classes at this point, so maybe I'll pick and choose from her extensive library and make 30 minute classes that follow this same pattern as Beginner Epic: body weight lower, body weight upper, core, dumb bell total body, and HIIT.

If you're waiting to SEE a small, furry, animal - you could be HANKERING for one. So, yes, you may be on your way to being a pet person. They are SO good for your health- both mental and physical. There are huge positives. The only downside is if you travel a lot, without being able to take them with you.
• Tip for the future - when leg day makes walking downstairs a challenge, going down backwards is easier.

BUFF
So many pushups you injured your shoulder? WOW! Don't think I've ever been in that rep range.
What kind of cardio do you usually lean towards? Indoors (step, hilo, drills, kickbox, HIIT, LIIT, bike, ...) Outdoors (rid, run, walk, swim, ....)

VANNIE
What kind of training are you doing with Cyric? How old is he now?

My world.
Thank you for the kind words on Bridget. She's feeling just sore now, as if she threw up all day yesterday. Her honours finish in April, so not long to go - then a break until 2022 before she starts her Ph.D. but in the break is all the applications for scholarships for it.

Mon., 4th Jan.
25min, morning dog walk
42min, Cathe - LIS - Low Impact Challenge - Step Express 1 Mix
43min, Adriene - Home Challenge - Day 1 Recognise
20min, evening dog walk

Also - ONE hour of school work. Vowed not to start until 1st Mon. of new year, and breaking in slowly. Today, shall stop after two hours.

Happy Tuesday!
