Oh yeah, they are a great value. Every DVD I've gotten from World Dance New York has been absolutely PACKED with stuff. I would say, honestly, if you are a very beginner it can be a little bit of a challenge to pick up. Then again, they have tutorial sections, which I never do since I'm not a beginner. So, I can't say how well the tutorial sections are done, but I'm willing to bet they are done very well. I've got several of their choreography DVDs & they are instructed EXCELLENTLY ! Really really well done.

It is so cool to see all of these World Dance dvds. I've taken workshops with several of the instructors and have met several more. They put on some awesome shows in Manhattan, and it's never difficult for my friend and I to get our husbands to go with us. Just try and get them to the ballet!

LOL, well, I kinda like the names. I don't think they sound pornish, but I guess I could see how some people might think that. I just think the names are cute & pretty.

Melissa, thanks for posting. I will check the clip out later. I wish Ross still had a good selection of fitness dvds. They used to sell the World Dance New York dvds for great prices. I didnt' buy any when I saw them, stupidly thinking they'd get them in again.

Oh, I know. My hubby goes to all my dance stuff.

I'm looking forward to the February (or was it March ??? I'll have to go look) release of Tarot. It's a performance DVD.

Cheeky Girls Productions puts out some really great performance DVDs too. I have the first one, which is out of print, the 2nd, the 4th, and the 6th.

ETA :
ooooo, I just saw they have a clip from Tarot up on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/StudioEa.../0/8XGIRLwcw4o

Another couple you might try, as an absolute beginner, are Neon's DVD for absolute beginners http://www.worlddancenewyork.com/pro...oid=24&catid=7 She teaches you the basics & a couple of choreographies. ( I don't own this one, but I've got several by Neon & find she is a really good instructor ) and Bellydance Basics http://www.worlddancenewyork.com/pro...oid=25&catid=7 I don't own Bellydance Basics either, but again I've got alot of Jenna's DVDs. I've heard Bellydance Basics recommended quite a bit, and I believe you get a choreography in that one. I find Jenna to be a little more *studious* I guess, and in the DVDs I have I wish she'd explain a little more before moving on to the next segment. I often have to rewind & look a little more at what she's doing. That said, since I don't have the Basics DVD she could be different in that one. I don't know. I've heard folks recommend it, so I figured I'd post it for you.

Autumn Ward has an instructional basic DVD too http://www.worlddancenewyork.com/pro...oid=78&catid=7 It is absolutely PACKED with information. (I got it because I liked the cute little choreography on it & because I like Autumn Ward) It is for very beginners. It's a little boring, I'll admit. She really overexplains, in my opinion, but I'll take that over not explaining enough. Her technique is a little different than what I've always been taught. She teaches postures a little differently, which I find valuable. Her choreography is more of a walk through IIRC. You really need to repeat repeat repeat to get it. If you want a good instructional, this is a good one to get.

Of all 3, I'd probably go with Neon's, though, for absolute beginners. All 3 I think would be excellent for a beginner, but Neon's would be more stimulating, and has 2 choreographies for you to learn. She explains things well, it would move a little faster, but doable, and you get to feel like you've accomplished something with learning her choreographies. ETA : If you get Neon's for absolute beginners, upon viewing the clip, I think you could grow with Luscious or Love Potion. Alot of what I'm seeing in the clip you would do in Luscious (although at a faster pace).

WOW!! These are so nice!

YEARS ago, I saw a belly dancer perform, and I thought (wistfully) WHY can't there be any workout videos like THAT? When I went looking there were only a few rotten ones. Now there seem to be hundreds of wonderful DVDs!
