Mostly it's the feel, I guess. The music is different in each one. Love Potion, atleast in my opinion, is softer. It's got alot more of a fluid feel to it. Alot of soft flowing movement. Soft arms, lots of circular movement, soft hips, etc... It's not easier than Luscious, but just very soft & flowy. The movements are also slower, not easier. It requires more muscle control to move slowly & gracefully through the movement.
Luscious is kind of a neat concept. They focus on strength in dance through different types of movement in each section. (I'm skipping through my DVD right now to see what all they do in each segment since I haven't done it in a couple of months.) Circular movements, such as hip circles, umis (which are slightly different from hip cricles), chest circles, etc... Then you have another section which focuses on figure 8 type movements (they call them infinity loops). You'll do figure 8s with your chest, horizontal figure 8s with your hips, bicycle figure 8s, mayas, etc... Then there are undulations. Not just your regular up to down undulations. You'll do up to down undulations, undulations down to up, pelvic locks, undulations while you step forward & back, side to side, etc... The hip segment while mostly focusing on lower body movements, really kind of uses all of the things you did throughout the workout but mixed with hard movements of the hips, such as alternating hip steps, hip pushes, shimmies, etc... It's a mix of hard & soft. The shimmy section is my favorite. There are traditional shimmies, twisting shimmies, shoulder shimmies, etc... What they call the body line section is really more of a cool down & stretch. It looks flowy & feels nice. I never do the last section, which is a dance walkthrough... almost a choreography I guess. But I don't ever do it because to me, if I've done the cooldown, I don't want to do another dance segment. I think they should've put that before the stretch & cooldown.
I like them both. I think I like Luscious a little better than Love Potion. Love Potion required a little bit more room for some of the traveling steps. Honestly, one of the reasons I didn't like Love Potion as much (although I do like it quite a bit) is because of the costumes. I don't really like yellow & animal prints & I don't like looking at that over & over. Just a pet peeve, I hate yellow & animal prints, and that combination in some of the segments just grosses me out. LOL
I like the music a little better in Luscious too. I just think Luscious feels better too. I like the combination of hard & soft. I'm not so much a soft flowy kind of dancer. My troupe director even points out the differences, which she loves, between me & one of the other dancers in the troupe. We are on totally different ends of the spectrum. She does alot of soft flowing movement, whereas I like power & staccato. Luscious has soft movement too, but it's mixed with a little bit more hard hitting movement.
That's why I'm looking forward to Hard Candy. It looks like it's got alot of popping & locking, which I LOVE. Mixed with wave like movements it can be really powerful & pretty.
So, that's my quick take on those other 2 DVDs. Each in the series is a little different. I think you should get all 3. he he he..... Hey, variety is the spice of life. Through worlddancenewyork.com if you order 2 or more you get a discount, plus they have free shipping.
