OT: our elderly cat has passed away, and I'm so sad

I wrote just last week in this forum asking you all what is "normal" for an older cat, but sadly, Miss Beasley had a sharp downturn in her health, and Monday we had to say goodbye. She either had a stroke or a spine injury of some kind and lost control of her back legs. Her last day with us on Sunday was a good one - she spent time in all of her favorite places and ate her favorite food (beef baby food mixed with cat food because it was hard for her to chew). She was still purring up a storm. The experience at the vet was calm and peaceful, and the people at the vet clinic were incredibly kind. I'm so sad now though. I miss her terribly. There's just a big hole in the house and in my heart. Rationally, I know that it was time for her to go and that there was no alternative, but I'm still so sad. We went through this with another cat a few years ago, but I must have forgotten how painful it is. Thanks everyone for listening.

I'm so sorry to hear of your cats passing! It's devastating to lose a member of the family and you never quite get over it when they're gone.

sorry

I'm so sorry. We went through that a few years ago. Hopefully she's in a better place and pain free.

I'm very sorry to hear this. That's so hard!

It sounds as though her passing was as comforting as possible under the circumstances. I hope you find similar comfort. Sending you hugs ....

bfit,
I am sorry for your loss. What you did for Miss Beasley on her final day was loving and thoughtful. Our fur kids become an important part of our lives and it is hard when we loose them. Hugs to you.

bfit I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm glad Miss Beasley's last day was a good one, and her passing peaceful.

Losing a beloved fur-baby is one of the most painful things - {hugs}.

Oh my goodness, and she was doing so well My Mom has two cats about the same age. They have been having health issues the past few weeks, and she has been back and forth to the vet with them. I don't think it will be much longer for them either. So sorry for your loss. I have two cats as well, and we all love our pets.
