Question Pull-Up Bars for a 36" wide doorframe?

My husband just started doing P90X and is interested in getting a pull-up bar. He's looked at several models but most seemed designed to fit a door frame that is no bigger than 32". We have 36" wide door frames.

Has anyone found a pull-up bar that works for a (slightly) larger door?

The Door Gym has an option that allows you to purchase extenders but some reviewers at Amazon seem to suggest that the extenders don't work out too well. Does anyone have any experience with the Door Gym with extenders?

Thanks for any help!

I think the perfect pull-up bar can reach that far. We have a similar situation but I didn't want the cat sneaking into the storage room, so I didn't put it in that door. If I remember, I'll ask DH. We looked at several brands and bought two others before buying the perfect pull-up for this same reason.

Pippa, I have the Iron Gym purchased at Walgreens of all places. My doors are 31 in and I measured the IG which at its widest points is barely 36 in so I doubt that it will work for you. HTH

Also, One brand of pull up bar had an extension you could buy but I think either here or at Amazon I read that people didn't care for it...
