Coming back to report that I got my UBP and really like it. It fits right next to my piano, and I can tuck my high step and stability ball in/around it so it has friends. And it does indeed look like a walker.
It has some give to it just sitting there, but once you put your weight on it it's solid (like a previous poster, I'd heard that about Cathe's tower, too). I use mine on low-pile carpet. It sits about 36 inches high, which I'd first thought might be too high for supine pullups but seem to be just fine. I guess if I get really good at them I can put my feet on the couch and pull even more weight. I did get the rings, but haven't tried them yet. But I still would love to get the Equalizer, too.
