I hear ya!!! Our dog who had this surgery (and developed aspiration pneumonia as a complication) has had pneumonia
again, three times! She spent October-January on antibiotics, plus therapies four times a day--vaporizer for ~30 minutes, and 10 minutes of chest compressions/percussion therapy (coupage). An almost 14-year-old dog is not nearly as incapacitated by pneumonia--or as enthusiastic about having her chest smacked for 40 minutes a day!

It will get easier; I found it
a lot easier when I finally accepted it as the routine, and tried not to look on it as a burdensome task. And it will be over before you know it! Our other elderly dog is having issues with hind-end weakness that may or may not be permanent, and right now (perhaps forever) I have to help her outside with a harness. Remembering the drama and exhaustion of the coupage, I told myself from the beginning, "This is what we do now! No big deal." The mindset shift/reframing has been HUGE for me. A little harder to think of tube-feeding your cat as quality time with kitty, but good luck!! Totally know what you're going through. ((hugs))
