YMAA SALE LEE HOLDEN QIGONG – do I need these?

YMMA has a lot of the Lee Holden QiGong dvds on sale for $11.98 each. The 30-day challenge is $15.98 (which I already have)

I’m trying to decide if I need any of these. I bought a 6-pack set last year during this sale and I don’t think I’ve even done any of them! These are the ones I’m considering, looking for comments and opinions on these:

QiGong for Depression and Emotional Balance
QiGong Five Elements Energy Balance
QiGong for Better Balance
QiGong Mindfulness in Motion
QiGong for Arms, Wrists and Hands (I type all day and have to wear wrist splints at night to keep my hands from going numb so I thought this might be helpful? Although I probably have a CS episode for this…)

What I already have:

QiGong 30-day Challenge
Introduction to QiGong
QiGong for Anxiety
QiGong for Healthy Joints
QiGong for Strong Bones
QiGong for Energy and Vitality
QiGong for the Upper Back & Neck
QiGong for Healthy Joints & Bones (Exercise to Heal)
7 Minutes of Magic AM & PM (Exercise to Heal)

I have most of the newer videos and Seven Minutes of Magic. My most used videos are the 30 Day Challenge and Energy and Vitality. Of the latest releases, the one I like most is Better Balance. The Five Elements has a 22 (or so) minute instructional portion, but the flow is nearly 40 minutes and I don't typically practice that long. If you want a longer practice, that would be a worthwhile investment. I don't have the Arms, Wrists and Hands, but there is some work for those areas on Healthy Joints. Many of the workouts from the 30 Day Challenge also have exercises to relieve tension in the arms and neck.

It would probably be good to do the 30 Day Challenge as they are very short workouts and you can see if Qi Gong is something you will do regularly. The price is good, but only if you will actually use the videos.

I bought a bunch on sale too and haven't even unwrapped them. So, I am not purchasing more.

I have a bunch from previous sales I have not used yet, either...I seem to do the 30 day dvd most consistently. To be honest, I prefer qi gong practices of about 20 minutes or less.

Hi Stacy - so good to "see" you.

I don't have any of the newest videos. From the ones you already own - I'm amazed I haven't worn out the 7 Minutes DVD and I've also gotten a lot of use out of the 30 day challenge. Of the ones that you own, I've found the Anxiety practice to be super effective. The first time I ever did it was one day when I was preparing to head out on a business trip and felt quite disorganized and flustered (really out of character for me). I did the Anxiety practice and it was almost miraculous at how much better I felt. I subscribe to Lee's streaming classes (my serious splurge, but I no longer to go local studio classes) and I've enjoyed the balance work he does. He frequently works hands in various classes since so many people use keyboards all day and will also throw in some acupressure points along with the exercises.

I don't know if you've ever done any of Marisa Cranfill's practices. Her You Tube channel is YoQi and she has some nice short practices that I've also enjoyed. I know YMAA has some of her DVD's - I haven't tried any of those.

ETA: I had to double check (I have the streaming/downloads versus DVD's of Lee's newer material and I have the Arms, Wrists and Hands Practice. I think it's useful but would probably be even more useful if I did it regularly. It does help with working out the tension from repetitive movements from being at the computer all day. I also have the Mindfulness practice, which is nice. The ones I have have a shorter practice option that runs around 20 minutes and then a longer version that runs around 35-40 minutes.

This has been a tough year for me fitness-wise, as I've had a serious work-life imbalance. Fortunately, things are starting to turn around, so I'm hoping to get back into regular qi gong, as I notice a difference in my stress levels and also in joint fluidity and right now I feel like a stiff, sore old lady!

Like Cyana, I am surprised I haven't worn out my "7 Minutes of Magic" dvd! I sure got my money's worth out of that purchase.

Sherry, I kind of agree with you...if I do Qi Gong I usually pick the short sessions. I should probably get the 30 Day program.

I guess my point is if you purchased programs before and haven't used them, why purchase again? I know it's a great price....I bought several dvds with the last sale...and don't use them.

I do know all about FOMO!

I bought Lee's new releases a while ago. If you click on the preview, you'll be able to view the extended class for Depression and Emotional Balance (the full 40 mins) and 35 minutes of the long version for Better Balance, to see if they appeal to you.

I did Lee's Qigong for Better Balance a few days ago. I thought it was pretty good.
