Thanks andtckrtoo for the link. It bought good memories of a cat we had that use to go for walks with me, often for blocks. The neighborhood did not have a lot of traffic than and he was an indoor/outdoor cat.

Aww, so cute.

I used to take Fatso when I took the dogs out into the trails for their run. I bought a cat pouch that looked a lot like a baby's pouch. He found it uncomfortable sitting though, so I figured I enjoyed it more than he did.

We usually travel by RV and park at RV parks/campgrounds. More and more, we have seen folks traveling with cats. I saw a guy walking his cat without a leash. It was something!

very cool! two of my favorite things: cats and hiking! my first cat would go on little "walks" with a harness.

One of mine likes to go out in a harness, but we only go to the backyard. Mostly he leads me, LOL. When he gets tired (he has kidney disease so his energy level is kinda' low) he likes to sit on my lap on a lawn chair.

Wow, I just love this story. Our dear departed Woody cat loved his leash walks - eventually. The first time we took him outside suited up, though, he performed what I can only describe as a cartoon cat triple 360/cartwheel/vertical leap and tore away from my husband's death grip on the leash. He was outta there! He strolled in the next morning, covered in leaves and grass but harness-free. He just looked at us as if to say, "What? The bars close at 2:00 and then we went for breakfast. Deal"

That's HILARIOUS.

We use one of these, and I notice there's at least one shown in the Cat Hiking feature, too: http://www.amazon.com/Kitty-Harness-Bungee-Leash-Kitten/dp/B001OP7JTK/ref=sr_1_6?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1415382841&sr=1-6&keywords=come+with+me+kitty+harness

It is MUCH better than harnesses I've used/seen before - more secure and the leash "bungees" so that if the cat jumps, the leash doesn't pull out of your hand.

I had to read that twice. It made me laugh so hard.
