I'm slowly making my way through Ann Leckie's Imperial Radch series (Ancillary Justice is the first). It's good, but I've had a lot going on lately, so haven't had much time to focus on the story.

Also got myself a small copy of Black Beauty in an illustrated/unabridged version. Hadn't read it in forever.

Glad I found this thread--somehow I missed this before!

I've been reading the "Booktown Mystery" series by Lorna Barrett--and I just found out that she lives right here in Rochester! I had read Books 1-5, then read 8 out of order, so I just went back and read 6 and now have 7 from the library to read next. I also have my first non-Hannah Swenson book by Joanna Fluke to read called Wicked--has anyone read anything by her outside of her series?

I finished the Cathy Kelly book. It was just okay. There were too many characters to keep track of.

I just started "The Survivors Guide to Family Happiness " by Maddie Dawson.

I just finished another book but I have to double check the title. It was called "All the Good Parts" by Loretta Nyhan.
I enjoyed it very much. The main character was extremely likable. I wish it had a sequel. I want to know more about her story.

Beth- I read some books in the Booktown series but I found the main character's sister incredibly annoying.

Sherry, I agree that Angelica was annoying in the first few books--and I also found the main character, Tricia, annoying, mainly in that she complained about Angelica so much! But after about Book 3 or so, the author started to tone it down as the sisters became closer, although there are still moments. The author actually writes under several names and has a few other series.

I read the book town series and agree about the main characters being annoying the in first few books. I also agree the characters are much more likeable as the series progresses. I found the endings of the last 2 books in the series very sad. I hope the author eases up on the misery in the next installment.

I guess I gave up before the two main characters got less annoying! I am sorry to see that the series is getting more serious, though. I may see if my library has any of them. I try to only buy mysteries by very favorite mystery authors (Ellen Hart, Susan Wittig Albert and SueAnn Jaffarian).

Bluebelle, Books 8 & 9? Oh, that's right, there was a sad event at the end of 8...I was hoping it would turn out to be a positive change in the next book. Of course, one thing about the series is that Tricia's love life tends to go from bad to worse!

Hi Toaster, sorry I hope I didn't spoil anything. I didn't remember how many books were in the series. I had thought #8 was the most recent till I looked on Amazon. Book clubbed (#8) had a sad ending. Then A Fatal Chapter (#9) was even sadder. I had hoped #9 would be happier since #8 ended on such a sad note. I'm hoping #10 is happier. I realize these are murder mysteries but I just don't like my cozies to be quite this depressing at the end of the book. But I do like the series. It's grown on me.

I just finished Hooking for Trouble by Betty Hechtman today. It's a crochet mystery series. This is #11 in the series. It's a funny series. When I first started reading them I could not believe the crazy situations the main character gets in but I really started to enjoy the series a few books in. The last several in the series have been especially enjoyable reads.
