Downloading video from Youtube

I used to be able to download video from YT and burn a DVD using Freemake. I am no longer able to do this. Has something changed from YT or Freemake that I am not aware of?

So frustrating. Thanks!

I can't really answer your question, but I have had good experiences with downloading Youtube videos using the one-click Youtube downloader on Firefox.

I've been using this with good results. You copy the link in the bar at top and download do not use the big button download that's advertisement all you use its the bar/download button at the very top of page

Your freemake may be out of date and needs to be upgraded. I had that problem a while back and upgraded. No problems now.

Not the OP, but when I try to update my Freemake, my security software blocks me. This is the only site that has ever been blocked. (This has happened repeatedly - I have been wanting to update for months.). I know I can ignore the warning and update anyway, but I hesitate to do this.

'Safe Web' gives the site a 'Safe' rating, but user comments only give it 2.7, claiming malware and other problems.

Has anyone else had a problem?

Freemake does have to be upgraded occasionally. When you do, always choose custom options and make sure any boxes of unwanted extra software are left unchecked. If you goof, try malwarebytes to remove the extra objects you did not want
http://www.malwarebytes.org/
(just get their free malwarebytes program and do not get their trial program to avoid any problems when the trial runs out)

You can get the Freemake products in two different ways.
I prefer downloading the offline programs here:
http://www.freemake.com/offline/offline_all/

The other way is downloading and installing through the internet:
http://www.freemake.com/

(maybe your protection software will enable one way but not the other)

I have been using Freemake products a long time but like any other freeware, they do try to get some extras on your pc.
It is how they make some money.

ETA: Freemake has to update its products because websites change their coding.

Thanks Barb!

I understand why they need to update their program periodically. I haven't had any problems with my older version, but thought I should catch up!

I'm going to try one of your alternate download sites.

I've been using Freemake a long time too with no problems. I can't remember how I originally installed it, but I always exclude all the freebies that companies like to add on! It's a great program.

Thanks again, Lori

I can share the current files for Freemake Video Converter (gold) and/or Freemake Video Downloader (blue) directly from my Google Drive if anyone prefers to download them from me. You still have to install the programs carefully, choosing custom options and unchecking unwanted extras that are offered.

These programs are only for Windows operating systems.
PM or email me for a link

Same here. Thankfully, Berb suggested the updated Freemake products and they're much easier and faster.

Thanks Barb! They sure do try to sneak lots of extras in. I was worried about malwearbytes. I have read some not great things about the program but I see you like it and I can always use a good debugger.

Thanks again.
