CAthe's MMA

Hi everyone-as I have gotten older I have went from an advanced exerciser to an intermediate. I can't really run anymore because of a knee injury but I want to do something to get my fat to go away. Would Cathe's MMA set be ok for someone with a bad knee. It looks like a great cardio workout and I need to shake things up.

Thanks everyone!

MMA Kickbox is the lowest impact of the three, but you do kicks that cause you to bend at the knee and a few twisting/turning moves - not sure if that would bother your knee.

MMA Boxing is more upper body focused, but there are short drills in there that have jumping in them.

MMA Fusion has tuck jumps, plyo lunges, and moves that contain deep knee bends.

HTH!

I like MMA kickbox but there is a conditioning drill where you do a side kick out for a bunch of reps on one leg with a little hop. It could be modified though to just not hop.

The last combo has a kick with a turn as the previous poster indicated. I leave out the turns sometimes. Other than that it's definitely intermediate and easier on my joints compared to kickmax and KPC.

Do you have a rebounder? I've been doing the "blast" segments on my rebounder for both MMA Boxing & MMA Kickboxing and it works really well for them. Just a thought.

You can always skip the lower body blasts in the boxing workout... I do this often.

This DVD also has the bonus bag workout on it.

I do this too. MMA Boxing is entirely low-impact if you skip the lower body sections. It was great when I was recovering from an ankle injury.

I've never done the lower-body drills in the boxing workout, just the boxing and the heavy bag work.
