Video of my powerlifting competition yesterday
I love sharing my powerlifting videos with you guys, so forgive me for posting another one. You are all so incredibly supportive, and you make me feel proud of myself.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SLrFI37jSs This is video of my powerlifting competition yesterday. I got a 340-lb. squat, 175-lb. bench press and 300-lb. deadlift. I weighed in at the 132-lb. weight class, which means I competed with all the women who weigh between 123 and 132 lbs. I'm sorry for the terrible video of the squat. The light was awful in the room, but you can see me really well on my bench press and deadlift. Just for background, most powerlifting meets consist of three lifts: squat, bench press and deadlift. You get three attempts at each lift. If you miss all of your attempts on one lift, you get disqualified from the meet, so you have to have at least one good squat, bench and deadlift to make it through. There are three judges who watch you lift and determine if the lift was good or not. You need at least two judges to okay your lift to pass. There are a ton of rules and disqualifiers, but the most important thing is whether you complete the lift from beginning to end. I am not thrilled wth my performance, but I did allright. I think I'm capable of a little bit more. I've had to lay off high-impact cardio for a few weeks during my training for this meet, but I'm back to my step aerobics vids today, darn it! I just downloaded Cathe's Intensity. Katie |
