Thanks for the update!
This info must be on Eoin's personal FB page. (Since I prefer to fan rather than friend instructors, I can't see it.)
Cheryl, it may sound unusual to Western ears, but Ananda, which means "bliss," is a popular (male) name in SE Asia, and, among other things, is the name of one of the Buddhas. Given Insiya's heritage (she's from Bali) and Eoin's studies in world religions it makes sense for them. Each family has the right to choose what they feel is an appropriate name for their child, whether we like it or not.
ETA: From my admittedly not large exposure to Indian and related names, there are a lot of strong male names that end in -a, like Ananda, Shiva / Siva, and Aditya (one of the most popular Indian-American baby boy names in recent years). A few of them have told me they never found anything girlish about them, as they were named for gods and other divine beings or great historical and/or mythical kings, monks, warriors, etc.
