I use a folded yoga mat on top of the bar to make it more comfortable. My arm length puts me right on top of the bottom rail and I am usually barefoot when I do barre work.

I also weigh it down on the opposite side with barbell plates. I don't know if it is necessary but it makes me feel better.

I just put mine together and used it with Cardio Barre and I have to say I love it. Easy to put together and a good price!

I bought the tower when it went on sale and think it is a pretty good piece of equipment.

Still, when I was doing STS and going quite heavy for bench presses, I did get concerned that I might get injured with a heavy barbell falling on my neck or chest.

We have a power rack with safety bars, so for heavy chest work, I'd use that.
