Many thanks!

Thank you so much for posting this. I received my Pilates: Body in Motion book last night and have been absorbed in it. Pilates is making such a difference in my life that videos aren't fully cutting it any more. I want to learn all I can so that I can practice to my inner flow, and this book is going to be a huge help to me. I learned about it right here on VF, too!

Wow!

and I thought there were a lot of yoga books!

I have Brook Siler's book - now that I see it's recommended maybe I'll have to pull it out and have a look at it.
Another one I have that I don't see listed is the Stott Matwork Manual.

I have to say - I had to LOL back in December when I saw that Peak Pilates calendar in the stores. It looked like they were kind of going for the yoga journal calendar look with the outdoor settings, and I think it would have worked nicely if they had stuck to the mat exercises, but seeing those huge cadillacs and reformers in the middle of a wheat field, or on a cliff above the ocean just struck me as quite funny

Thanks for the list! ( have you ever looked into librarianship )

This is fascinating! Thanks for the work, Pam. I agree that the Ungaro and Siler books dominate the field. Ungaro provides more detail in the photographic illustrations and Siler provides great detail in her instructions. Together, they are a very thorough intro to matwork. Of course, I can't say I've seen all the other titles you list...!!! It is extremely helpful to have them all written down here.

just a note about this thread's new location

Thanks so much for this exhaustive list!

I'm posting so that everyone will hopefully notice that I've moved it to the General workout/fitness FAQ section of the forum. That seemed like a good place to keep it.

Wow. That is pretty much everything I have every seen in Pilates. I think there are a couple of books recently out about how to start and have a successful Pilates studio. I can't remember the name, but they were both very good and were advertised in IDEA Source magazine.
Thanks.-Cathy
