3 Weeks out of Hysterectomy

Hello all,

Thank you for the responses in answer to my other question about a hysterectomy.

Now I'm 3 weeks out and recovering well. I'm a bit restless and would like to start doing something other than walking which I've been doing daily. The weather is colder and the cold makes it difficult to want to walk outside.

I'm wondering if I can do modified Leslie's or possibly some CS/Essentrics (legs, arms, feet possibly). I'm still under orders to lift nothing more than 10lbs and no core work.

Thanks in advance and a Healthy and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

sending comfort thoughts your way.

yes to Leslie's. if you get tired of those, dance workouts where you're just walking and doing low impact can be made into "walking-ish" workouts.

I remember after having female-related procedures "down there", and I can understand your restlessness. may I also suggest some short meditation? I always notice that when you're recovering from a medical procedure, the mind starts getting anxious, and meditation is good for quieting the mind.

Bzar,

Thank you for the well wishes.

The meditation is a great idea. I've been having some anxiety, plus the holidays don't help things. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you!

You can do upper body endurance using weights under 10 lbs. Standing squats and hamstring curls, calf raises. Floor work for inner and outer thighs. Margaret Richard's Getting Better is all done sitting or lying down.

How was your surgery performed? Mine was a full open, vertical cut. I was told no lifting any weights for six weeks. Basically, I walked until I got the green light from my surgeon.

Videofit, this sounds great. I think I can use these suggestions to put together a routine with these. Unfortunately, I don't own any of Margaret Richard's stuff.

Hi Jackie,

I had the bikini, not that I'll be wearing any. Still no fun either way you slice it, sorry gallows humor.

My surgeon said I can lift anything over ten pounds. He did say no exercise until after the 8 week mark and definitely no core work. Since he said not to lift anything over 10 pounds, I thought I can start using some light weights.

I'm walking daily for I'm bored with it and need some variety.
