The Flu and exercise

I am recovering from a bad form of the flu. I have intense pain still in the rotator cuff of each of my shoulders, can hardly even move enough to dress. I have talked to Doc's office about this. My question, anyone else have this problem and do you think gentle shoulder exercises might help? It has been a month now.

Do you have any Classical Stretch or Essentrics dvds? I am thinking about the Pain Relief dvds and the Back pain dvd.

www.Essentrics.com

Has your doc offered any advice?

Speaking of Essentrics, here's a nice 10 minute YT Essentrics Upper back & shoulder pain relief stretch by master instructor Gail Garceau:

Be gentle with yourself & I hope you feel better soon!

Thank you both for replying. I don't have those dvds sadly, but the youtube workout link looks good. All the doc says is to take pain killers. Pain killers are not good for my kidneys at my age, 68. I will try the youtube w/o very carefully. Thank you again!

I am sorry you are in pain and hope you are better soon. I also got the flu in February and suffered from extreme pain in my jaw, back, shoulders and one quad muscle. I could hardly move. It took about 3 weeks for things to get better, but I still have some lingering issues with my jaw and quad muscle.....these muscles/areas happen to be places where I had injuries 20 plus years ago.

I also found that the flu drained me of energy and a good amount of muscle mass...I didn't eat or move much for days.

It takes time to get back to normal. Hang in there.

primrosecat - Here's a link to my YT Essentrics playlist, I believe there are about a dozen short workouts. (((Hugs))) to you & Carly & hope you both feel better soon. It's frustrating when all your doc wants to do is push pills on you.

Carly, thank you so much for sharing your experience! I had no idea, I've never had the flu before, so your advice is really good. I hope you are much better. I am trying to give it time. Pam, thank you !!!!! for your link!! I love it. I really appreciate everyone's help.

Hi, thanks, I've been using both for relief. Just to let everyone know, (this may be TMI) I woke up in recovery room after a colonoscopy with raw throat, couldn't talk, congested. Had to go to my GP who said I had flu and bronchitis. It happened that fast.
