congratulations to your daughter!
My cats never outgrew this!

My kitten Rudy, as much as I love him, is a monster sometimes. He has ruined drapes and knocked over plants. He is rambunctious and has a ton of energy, but when he's done, he konks out on your lap!

I agree with keeping in one room while she's gone - even a bathroom is OK. Just be sure there's nothing unsafe they can get into - cats will chew on electrical cords, eat plants, chew on plastic bags, and so on. You can also try a dog crate or large dog cage - we once kept an injured/recovering from surgery cat in a dog cage when we were gone just to make sure he didn't hurt himself. As for running around like a crazy cat, my cat is 5-6 years old, and he does this all the time. When he starts tearing around it's often a sign he wants to play.

We kept our 4 week old kitten in the bathroom stocked with litter, lots of food and lots of toys and plush blankets.

CFWB - This is so cool! I wish I had known about this toy with a heartbeat back then. I think it would have helped with her anxiety.
