I don't watch Oprah, or any of the other talk shows.
Me neither, and this reminds me of why I don't.

I just ignore Oprah when I see something about her.

I'm right there with you.

I'm sick of Oprah and I'm sick of her trying to tell everyone how they should live. I ignore Oprah as well.

The Suzanne Sommers clip is extremely disturbing.

Can't trust something just cause it's on tee-vee, that's fer sure.
Are you talking about Wayne Dyer? He seems to run on a loop on our public tv station for some reason?

Just because you write a book doesn't maake you an expert. It's being an expert that should lead to writing the book.

Yes Ronnee! I agree with everything you say, especially the last sentence.

This isn't a nanny state (yet) and people are allowed to make up their own minds. I personally like having choices. Let's not forget that doctors used to scoff at the idea of washing their hands before surgery, so conventional wisdom isn't always the best and is always changing to reflect current research.

So writers and journalists should not be allowed to interview the experts and write about their work?

I was thinking more of Daniel Amen, who is indeed controversial. This article mentions Amen before talking about another doctor:

As these letter writers reflect, PBS, like Oprah, is deep in the infomercial business, and these book/product pushers get so much time on public television gives the appearance of implied endorsement.
