Need recommendation for shovel-max equipment

It’s that time of year. I did some snow shoveling today and I need a more ergonomic snow shovel. Any recommendations?

I'm in the same predicament. I shoveled yesterday with a smaller shovel which works great for wet heavy snow (which is what we had), but our bigger ergonomic shovel died on us last year. I'm just going to head over to Menards to "try out" what they have. Shovels have different lengths and angles so it is best to find what feels right to you.

I do Shovel Max with an old grain scoop. Not ergonomic. Heavy. But moves some snow.

Menards has some great shovels! Maybe I should get one. ;-)

I think you should get a pusher and not a lifter-type.

Wendysilly as it sounds I hadn’t thought about how important trying before buying would. It makes sense. No Menards here, I’ve never heard of them before your reply. We have Lowe’s and Home Depot.

Kate I’ll admit that I had to google a grain shovel to see what one looks like. They look a lot like the shovel I used yesterday.

Cheryl I love the idea of a snow pusher but don’t think it’s practical in our area. We get a lot of snow, often in excess of a foot with a single storm. Our driveway is 145 feet long. Some winters we end up tossing snow over piles that are 4 feet high.

We have a plow guy who clears half to 3/4 of the driveway with really big storms but there’s still a lot of manual clean up. I like shoveling snow - it’s a great workout - but I’m 64 and a little more aware of working with rather than against my body.

Glad to see you are being cautious at our age. Check QVC. They always have some new contraption.

We got so much snow last winter....the snow blower was a necessity. Still did plenty of shoveling the sidewalks, etc.

I've used a grain scoop type of shovel and it does move a lot of snow. It's easier for me to use a plastic type of flat shovel with an ergonomic handle. DH picked up several from Menard's.

The bent handle definitely makes a difference. Our looks kinda' like this: https://smile.amazon.com/Suncast-SC3...s%2C175&sr=1-5
but we didn't get it from Amazon and we definitely didn't pay that much! We probably got ours from Ace Hardware.
