Best way to support a youtube channel

I've fallen in love with Millionaire Hoy's workouts and have been using them regularly for the past month. I figure it's time to throw him some support. He has a support link on his youtube page for a one time donation or he has a monthly donation on Patreon.com. Do you think one way is better than another for him? I guess my preference is to do a one time donation through youtube but I was curious what other people do and if you think there's any difference to him ?

I'd like to know as well. There are a few youtube channels I'd like to support.

I'm sure either would be appreciated, but Patreon is probably what he prefers, because it will provide a more sustainable income for him allowing him to make more workouts. Also, if you subscribe to Patreon you may get access to some bonuses that he doesn't provide on his free you tube channel.

If I used his workouts and wanted him to keep making workouts I would subscribe to his Patreon and pay anywhere from $1-$5 a month depending on how many of his workouts I did a month.

Creating the workouts is a lot of work and Ad revenue is not enough to make a living unless you have a ridiculous amount of views, so this is what a lot of YouTube channel owners are doing now.

But really, I think supporting him in any way you feel most comfortable would be good. A one time donation is similar to buying a dvd and that seems fair also.

I was just looking at his Patreon page, and he has a LOT of bonuses for someone who pledges $1 a month.

He seems like a really good guy who is trying to bring fitness to lots of people. Even though I can't fit his workouts in my schedule, it almost makes me want to support him that way myself.

His workouts are awesome if you are into the Insanity drill style workout. There are hundreds of them on his channel. I really like his personality and want to see him continue producing.

If the videos are ad supported, then giving the videos more views will put some change into the creator's pocket assuming they are signed up for the monetary feature of Youtube.

Yes, this is true. Money is made from people watching the ads that come before and after the videos. Sometimes if you click on the ad to go to a website you will be contributing more $$ also.

However, the money made from ads is pretty small as an individual viewer. It depends on your status on YouTube to a degree (very popular channels earn more per ad view) but an approximate estimate of earnings per ad view is about 1/10th of a cent.

It is better than just downloading the workout and never giving ad views, or adding to the video view # (which can help indirectly). But if you really want to support the instructor and encourage them to continue, supporting them through something like Patreon is not a bad idea.

Obviously if you are jumping around and trying a bunch of instructors it doesn't make sense to support them all. I'm just saying it is something to consider for producers who you really love and use a lot.

Yes. This fits my situation. I went ahead and became a Patreon contributor. I can cancel at anytime. But while I am using so many of his workouts, I do want to contribute.
