Workouts using gliding discs - Yay or Nay

I'd like to hear your opinions.

I recently bought a Cathe workout that called for these. I didn't realize the workout utilized them so much (probably should have read more detailed reviews) so I will almost certainly never use the workout again.
I always feel as if my discs don't slide (have carpet) or that they are an accident waiting to happen.

What are your opinions - do you love them or hate them?

I don't like them for leg work. I liked the slide and glide crazy carpet mat, because there are bumpers at each end so that you can push off, glide, and be sure of stopping at the other side. With just a slippery foot, it feels like I can't use much tension and can't push my foot too far, for fear of straining my muscles on the return movement. But I do like them for mountain climbers and the bottom half of burpees. Instead of jumping in, you slide your feet in.

I don't like them for cardio, like jumping jacks. They hurt my knees for some reason. I, too, don't mind them for mountain climbers or burpees or push ups, though.

But I avoid workouts that use them primarily to execute moves. I have tried doing these workouts without the gliding discs, but I find I get no enjoyment from these workouts.

Exactly how I feel. I have gliders, I've tried several workouts, and for me it's a case of 'never again'.

I love them for leg work, but haven't tried them for cardio yet. I hope it's just a matter of getting used to them, and not an knee accident waiting to happen.

I love using the gliding disks for leg work. I use them to modify high impact moves.

I love the discs for leg work. They allow me to get really deep into the move. Mindy Mylrea has some great workouts that utilize gliding discs. Cardio moves I'm not much of a fan of though...

I want to like them. They aren’t convenient.

I have two sets (Mindy’s and a double sided set.) Neither slides well on either our gym floor or the large mat I have down. I also have furniture mover disk, same deal.

I bought a runner style rug similar to what Tracie Long uses in her videos. It works but needs to be put out and taken up and it’s awkward to work on at certain angles.

In the end the large LLBean waterhog runner as you come into the gym from outside works best - but it’s not without problems. (We keep it spotless since clients enter this way.)

In the end they’re too much trouble for the benefit I feel that I get from them.

I've never used them at home. But they have them in some of the group exercise classes at my gym and I didn't particularly care for them. Was always afraid I was going to fall on my butt or fall and pull something. I used to just go along with the motions when they were used.

Yay for me, I like using them, they are great for leg work. I find mountain climbers harder with the disks.
