Oh, yes, I think most of my light reading is fantasy or fantasy/SF that's mostly character based.
Lois McMaster Bujold's a favorite author. Also a fan of Becky Chambers (hers is mostly character based SF. If you do like character based SF (space ships!) maybe also try Martha Wells Murderbot series of novellas. Check the library, see what they have in e-book format. Might surprise you.

I recently finished listening to the audible version of "Baby Teeth" by Zoje Stage. Ugh, not ONE likeable character! The ending also felt unfinished.
I just downloaded book 2 in the Zoe Bentley series by Mike Omer called "Into the Darkness." I hope it's as good as the first book "A Killer's Mind." It's about an FBI profiler that's a serial killer hunter and she works with another Special Agent to catch them. It's really well written and interesting. They are both available on Amazon Kindle Unlimited. I also just started a book called "Bestseller" by Susan May that is kind of a dark read. It's about an author who has a first book that becomes a bestseller but after he befriends another author his luck turns. Kind of depressing so far but interesting. ETA: One of my favorite books "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein was made into a movie! It opens in August and they cast the Dad from "This is Us" in the lead role. I have to see it! I'm also going to listen to the audible version again before I go see the movie. And I started listening to "A Dog's Journey" by W. Bruce Cameron. They just released a movie based on the book. I loved "A Dog's Purpose" in both book and movie format. This is a continuation of that story. Lol, can you tell I love a good Dog book?

Donna, omg so disturbing! I felt like the mother might have split personality disorder because of the child’s descriptions. The ending was strange and it didn’t feel resolved. Ugh, I kept listening since I had spent a credit on it.
