Question What do you wear to the gym?

Hi! I'm planning to join a gym at a local community college that is really cheap during the summer. However, it's been years and years since I've been a regular gym member, so...what are people wearing these days? I am mostly talking about bottoms here. I think I will just stick with the basic T for tops.

About me: I'm about 50 pounds (give or take) overweight and prefer to dress modestly (even when I wasn't overweight, I was pretty modest!). I will mostly be doing cardio machines (bikes, elliptical, maybe some others but don't know what all they have there) and maybe doing some weight machines, but will not be doing anything heavy duty--not at first anyway!

Yesterday, I bought a couple of black (the only color the store had in my size ) activewear skorts. Do woman actually wear these for gym-wear? With T-shirts?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Donn

Funny, I've never seen any women wear skorts to the gym. But don't let that stop you! I should get a pair too for the gym.

Almost every woman at my gym wears leggings of varying lengths with a tank top or t-shirt. A few will wear gym shorts.

Have fun!

I think leggings are the standard.
I'm overweight and a bit self-conscious in leggings but Walmart has a brand that is very thick (flattering and concealing). More cotton-like, not slinky. I prefer the fitted capri-length and the capri with a flare at the bottom.

I wear sweats . Or yoga pants that aren't to clingy. I don't like anything clingy to my body. Can't stand leggings. Seems to be the bottom of choice throughout NJ though, whether in the gym or not.

Yes, leggings are everywhere! I'm not a fan of them either. I prefer my cotton blend yoga pants that are straight leg or flared a little.

I loved the capri yoga leggings Danskin Now from Walmart. They had a loose fit and had pockets. I wish they still had those.

Alison, are you talking about the Terra and Sky brand? I use those to wear around the house, but the material is kind of thick for me for workouts.

I wear compression leggings and tank top. Seems to be the norm and avoids getting the equipment too sweaty. I'm also modest even though fit but feel odd baring my abs lol! The leggings are also compression so support the muscles joints and circlulation.

I'm at the gym so I did a quick walk around to see what people are wearing. Leggings, leggings, leggings! All lengths, even some bike shorts length, on women of all ages and sizes. A few, like me today, were wearing capri length baggy pants aka pedal pushers (I like them because they have pockets, but many leggings now have pockets.) Even many guys are now wearing leggings under their shorts Shorts are fine too. Whatever you feel comfortable working out in.

I have not bought these, but I like other clothing from here:

These have pockets. If you are ordering person there for the first time, they should offer a discount code:

I like the looks of these, but I am too cheap to spend that much for exercise clothing:
