DVD for beginning seniors

My MIL/FIL go to Silver Sneakers once a week at the YMCA and really enjoy it, but it totally wipes them out. I was thinking of getting them a workout DVD as a Christmas gift so that they can continue to exercise when the weather is bad. Any suggestions?

Miranda just released 2 Aging Backwards for Beginners dvds that look excellent. I think Margaret Richards has a couple dvds for older adults, also.

The new Aging Backwards dvds from Classical Stretch/Essentrics might be a good choice.

What a sweet gift idea! I got my MIL the 'Sit and Be Fit' dvds when she was diagnosed with a dementia muscular specific progressive disease, and her being able to sit while working was a positive. I don't know if CollageVideo still carries them, but they are a welcome alternative to standing traditional work.

Jane Adams has a few yoga-for-seniors DVD's that are really good:

And, if they have any balance issues:

Jane Fonda's newer stuff is for seniors

Many of Teresa Tapp's newer workouts, like Healthy Hormones or Senior Fit, were designed with an older population in mind.

All of Sue Grant's work is for seniors

I want to second Donna's recommendation of Miribai Holland. She's my go to after I've been ill.

And, of course, I always recommend Classical Stretch to everyone for everything, but the newer Aging Backwards workouts are quite good.

A lot of it depends on how frail they are. For workouts that are oriented toward seniors who still have mobility and strength:

Angie Miller did a senior workout for the Absolute Beginners series. It has cardio and strength segments.

Zumba Gold is oriented toward seniors.

Susan Tuttle has a couple of DVDs that would be appropriate. Some are in chairs. The Cardio Sculpt DVD involves movement on your feet.

For seniors who need a chair:

My mother in law used Sit & Be Fit DVDs for quite awhile. I'm not sure if she still does.

Chair Dancing DVDs give a lot of options.
