I didn't realize that Stephen King's new one was a sequel to Mr. Mercedes--guess I'd better get around to reading this one, then! Any thoughts on it?

I just finished "The Defining Decade- Why your twenties matter and how to make the most of them now" by Meg Jay. This was recommended to me by a friend who also has a twenty something son. It was an interesting book and offers some good advice to those in their twenties. A bit of tough love some of them need although I think it might be discouraging to some. There are three main sections: Work, Love and The Brain and the Body. The brain and body section was fascinating-filled with information about how the brain develops in young children and young adults and explains how this development manifests in certain behaviors. If anyone is interested check out Meg Jay's TED talk "Why twenty is not the new thirty." It is basically a summary of her book. I was wondering if Beth has read this book since she works with young adults.
I also finished We are Completely Beside Ourselves. I did enjoy this book although some of it fell flat. It is a good discussion book IMO as it raises a lot of questions about human and animal behavior, animal testing etc. Looking forward to discussing it on Tuesday night. |

I finished The Healing Quilt - a pleasant fluffy read with quilting and quirky characters who solve life problems. And, I'm getting toward the end of The Girl in Glass. I really have no idea how she's going to end it and am enjoying the read. I'm also reading Summer Champagne, the fourth book in the series of romances. I've enjoyed the series. I'm also getting toward the end of Quiet. It has taken me awhile and I've enjoyed it, although I keep putting it down for awhile and then coming back to it.

As usual, a bunch of stuff that was on hold for my Kindle came in at the same time!
Girl on the Train (Paula Hawkins), Three Wishes (Lianne Moriarty), and I checked a bunch of other stuff out of the library over the past few days. I think I'll start on my Kindle "holds" first so I can finish them before they disappear from my Kindle. Good thing I have a few days off this week --- Donna |
