Sharon, that's exactly what I tired too! The medicine ball works well! I did go ahead and invest in yoga blocks (geez, I bought yet another gadget but at least only $10)! I like using the medicine ball in some of the ab work too - where they use a yoga block between the knees. The ball adds a little extra weight.
Now, if there was only a good substitution for the darned handstand move!?!???!!
