2/4 - dog walk
3 miles with Leslie Belicon's Building Upper Body Strength w/ Remy. I really didn't like this one. He was doing the arm work at a manic pace and bouncing at the same time, not necessarily at the same beat. I decreased my weight and still couldn't keep up. Finally, I did the arm movements at my own pace, but would not do that again! Cleda - GHU is such a deal that if you really don't like it, I wouldn't worry about it. Too many workouts, not enough hours in the day. I completely understand about snow and work. We did not get snow days at the Post Office, we were expected to show up no matter what! And when the kid's school would get canceled, there was another thing to worry about. So, I should amend my "I love snow" to only when I don't have to go anywhere in it, besides a lovely walk! Pam - I just watched a short interview with Adriene this morning. I love her teaching style and may try her 30 day challenge when my StepBet is over. Waves to Helen and Kay!

~8 km walk with DH ~BellyFit Flow zoom class ~Day 5 of Adriene’s 30 Days of Yoga Lili - I love Adriene & I don’t know why it took me so long to find her! I like her funny quirky personality. Cleda - Yes getting to work is a concern in winter. I grew up on the prairies with lots of cold & snow....I don’t miss it at all! We do get our share of rain out here, and I know a lot people don’t like that, but we saw green grass & daffodil shoots peeking through on our walks this week. Waves to all!

Sunday morning - oh it's a sure sign I haven't checked in enough if I get waves!
so... Busy! worked over 5 hours yesterday (Saturday) doing admin setup stuff that is supposed to be done by Monday. It'll be another big work day today. I hate my job. Thu., 4th Feb. 32min, Tim - 30 Day Yoga Challenge - Day 19 and most likely a dog walk, but that's all. Fri., 5th Feb. 37min, Tim - 30 Day Yoga Challenge - Day 20 and most likely a dog walk, but that's all. Sat., 6th Feb. 11min, Tim - 30 Day Yoga Challenge - Day 21 57min, Cathe - Step Heat, 6" 40min, Cathe - XTrain - Super Cuts - Timesaver First Part + Core 1 Surgeon followup was Thursday after work. Disappointed - no date for ACL reconstruction and repair of torn meniscus. He wants me to get a second opinion from a guy in Sydney who specialises in these things for people over 50. Pointedly asked him WHY he wants me to get a second opinion. He said that doing it on someone "my age" is the subject of strong debate and reiterated what he'd said previously that a much younger surgeon would tell me to suck it up and get on with life, that I'm not seriously debilitated by it - that I'm still doing MOST of what I was doing before. Yeah - but mentally concentrating with every step I take. Walking on the beach, I constantly watch my foot placement, so too with workouts. It's a constant mental awareness workout as well. Thought two things: 1) He's covering his arse in case the 1-year outcome isn't great - so it ends up being MY decision, OR the decision of the Sydney guy... OR... 2) He's supporting the guy in Sydney, who is a Professor at a university, and they are under pressure to publish and he needs me to be an additional member for a study. Yes, I'm cynical. BUT a positive thought is that maybe the local guy isn't just chasing money and pouncing on another bunch of surgery fees??? Sorry for lack of shout-outs but the list of stuff I need to get done today is calling me - but that list INCLUDES things up in the gym. Also, the last few days DH has changed over the modem to a faster system, and our email provider is closing down so he's having a hellish time getting the new provider sorted. Been at both these problems for two days, solid and is NOT happy! Couple of extra bits from reading - YES, I have read posts. I love how Denise Austin is always proud of me. Sorry that the snow has been problematic, rather than delightful. Super fast moves with weights is definitely asking for trouble. I'm only aware of the Pux-Phil thing from Groundhog Day - that's it, and have no memory of what the deal with the shadow is. Our weather - heavy rain again yesterday. Today is sunny, but it's been so sticky/muggy, sitting here I can feel the trickles down my back. Not the most positive/happy post, sorry guys.... editing to adjust that feeling takes time, that I don't have - lucky I type fast!

~Barre3: 30 min cardio focus ~Essentrics TV: Meg’s live workout ~cardio: Neighbourhood walk & 20 min rebounding ~Yoga: Day 5 of Adriene’s 30 Day & Yin Yoga with Matt (YT): Yin Yoga on Ice Helen - It’s hard to figure where your doc is coming from and I’m sure it’s frustrating! My DH has had arthroscopy on both knees for meniscus tears with great success. Before surgery I remember him moving a certain way and suddenly almost collapsing in pain. None of that since. I hope you get answers and a way forward soon.

Helen: Good to see you! I hear you on the "been awhile since I posted if I'm getting waves." Lol !!! I don't know what to say about your surgeon. I do know I've heard over the years: The longer one can put off any type of knee surgery, the better. Because it more than likely will need to be done AGAIN. But that is 20 or 30 year old advice I remember hearing and times/medicine changes annually if not monthly, so just make sure you are well informed. and do what is best for you. and YES! Ultimately, all of the decisions (being informed) do come down to you and personal responsibility. Sorry! Wish I could sound cheerier about it for you, but I can't. And I know you will do your research, gather all your information, make an informed decision, take in all accounts and stories and ultimately, do what is BEST FOR YOU. that's the bottom line. And you know, no matter what you decide, we're here cheering you on.
Puxatawney Phil: if he sees his shadow, it means 6 more weeks of winter. And yes. It's groundhog day (Feb. 2nd). The bottom line on that one ??? No matter if he sees his shadow or not, according to the calendar, it is ALWAYS 6 more weeks of winter. This year, he was overshadowed (no pun intended!!!) by our horrendous Nor'eatern. So we didn't hear much about Poor Phil. hahahahahahahaha! Slow news day? In a good year, he'd be all over the news. Kinda silly if you ask me, but hey. Lili: you are so right on GHU tv is a deal. I just have to make myself do it. And I will. Pam: I often think if I could stay home during the snow, it would be so much different. I might even break out the snowshoes and cross country skis (Yes! I own them both). But when I stress/worry about work, the drive, the reschedules, are we closing? are we not? it is just energy-sucking. But retirement will come eventually and then I won't have to worry as much. We also live way back off the road and many times our weather and roads back here are NOTHING like they are at the main roads. (a mere 2 miles away). So when it looks clear on the main roads people can't understand how I can't even get out.?!? Anyway .... It is winter in the Northeast. What do I expect? Waves to Kay and lurkers!!! On to me, me and all me: 2/3/2021: 20 Mins. Row (sweat with Aquil), plus 5 mins. cool down row. Adrian 10 mins. Total body stretch, Denis Morton Restorative Yoga. 2/4/2021: 10 mins. Core w/Matty, Rebounding with San Fran for 20 mins.** 2/5/2021: Row 10 mins., 45 mins. Bootcamp w/Matty (tread and total body)., 20 minute boot camp with Adrian (tread & total body) 2/6/2021: 30 mins. Bob Marley Ride with Denis, 20 mins. Selena Leg workout (fast becoming my ultimate favorite leg workout.) Well, penny wise and pound foolish comes to mind. The pillow I got from TJ Maxx is not what I had hoped, so I will be ordering a bolster from Amazon. I am going to continue with restorative yoga and maybe some daily meditation (a homework assignment from a book I'm reading). I think 5-15 mins. per day may do me some good. At least worth a try. ** Selena's leg workout. It's 20 mins. It does weighted clamshells, (while doing a side plank), she does fire hydrants, leg lifts, one legged bridge raises, frog bridges, all things a pear shaped person loves doing to slim down the legs. And followed with some squats, air squats and I sub some KB swings at the end. I really, REALLY like this one and it goes by FAST. Having fun doing different workouts. I did 2 bootcamps that morning because I got my 2nd dose/vaccine on Friday and I was a bit concerned I'd be under the weather, low energy for the weekend and I had to complete 2 of the bootcamps by 2/8 for a badge. So, I got them done and earned the badge!!!! All is good. Matty's was HARD. I think in his earlier Peloton days, he may not have found his niche and was a tougher instructor. not the Matty of 2021 that I love and adore!!!! (Vaccine was fine, no side effects except a sore arm, worked the next day and worked out that morning.) I have vowed to use the rebounder more and between Naomi Joy and San Fran, I think I'll be golden. This was a beginner workout (but it worked just fine for me). They both have some beginner tabata workouts that I may give a whirl also. Oh and the runs I've been doing? I have hit 7 mph for some of the sprints. (this is a TOTALLY UNHEARD of speed for me) now, it may only be for 30 seconds to a minute, but I'm bragging about it. Tee-hee. Ok, gotta go ... not snowing yet. may hit the grocery store. Make it a great day. Cleda |
