Great report, Daphne! Like everyone else, I felt like I was there also, but I wasn't panting and sweating, just cheering you on.

I always enjoy reading your reports. You really are an amazing writer!

Wellesley is an all-female college, located at the halfway mark of the race. It's a legendary part of the race, because the girls scream so loudly and show their support for the runners in lots of other ways. A lot of the male (and even female) runners stop and collect kisses through here. On Monday, most were wearing halter tops or bathing suit tops and skirts, holding signs that say Kiss Me I'm Irish or I was a virgin until this race. My friend Mike ran Boston last year and the first thing he asked me was if I "got any action" in Wellesley. It's one of the few parts of the course where they put up barricades.

I had no doubts that you would finish. It's unfortunate that you had some problems with your back before to mess up your training, but there's always next year. You still did a great job.
