This drives me crazy and I have to hear it all the time.

Lay = transitive verb, needs a direct object.
Lie = intransitive verb, no direct object.

yes. i also dislike when people use the word "myself" like a pronoun when they should use the word "I" or "me."

part of it is that they may be afraid to sound egotistical in using "I' or "me."

"Myself" can be in a sentence if it already has "I" or "me" in it but "myself" cannot be in a sentence all by itself. a common misuse of the word:

I don't like "spiritual" talk in workouts. I'm working on my body, not my spirit. I have no idea how I'm supposed to "open my heart center" or "melt into the mat". I'd rather get more specific instructions of what I'm supposed to do and how that is supposed to feel.
Talk about things that aren't relevant to the workout, like birds flying around in Tracey Mallett's garden or a donkey that I can't see in Elise Joan's garden.

Finally, I find animals very annoying in exercise videos, especially when the instructors acknowledge their presence and talk about them or when they make noises. I don't care about your dog, your cat or your pet rat. I'm working out alone and have limited time to get this workout in, so please, lock that animal out of the room while you teach me!

Mostly things instructors say don't bother me much but I remembered one thing that drives me nuts! During a yoga video, just as I'm feeling really relaxed, the instructor will say something like "leave all your to-do lists behind, don't think about your kids fighting" etc. Sheesh, way to ruin the mood and take me right to my chores list.

lol. I'd rather they finish the last relax pose so that another video doesn't start playing while you're enjoying what's it called Shavasana?

Awww topfitmama, I actually disagree with all you wrote lol! I love all that stuff, especially the pets and random distractions the instructors comment on while working out. Okay, I suppose I agree with you on the "open your heart center" comment. Chest broad people, just say what you mean lol!
