Off-Topic Hurricane Zeta, everybody okay?

How's everyone doing?

Picking up storm debris in the yard isn't a workout, exactly, but it will make you tired.

I'm okay, but power's out pretty much throughout the region. My generator is running fine, and I do have water service.

No big drama for my household, just a chunk of tree that broke off and is brushing up against the neighbor's fence, a big branch that's just lying in the yard (too big to move by myself), and a shutter that snapped in half but didn't breakaway. The shutter spent most of the stormy hours banging back and forth, which was scary, but apparently didn't damage the wall behind it.

We’re okay. The power just came back on a little while ago. We’re on a well so unfortunately when we lose power we lose water too. Minor roof damage in a couple of places - DH made emergency repairs this morning and we’ve already contacted a roofer. We also picked up pieces of shingles and small tree limbs from the yard. Several houses in the neighborhood have roof damage in varying degrees and several trees and fences are down around the neighborhood.

We are fine. No real debris or damage in our yard. My next door neighbor lost a huge Oak tree but thankfully it fell on his fence only. Power came on about 2 hours ago. The cell phones weren't working well while the power was out so it was hard to keep in touch with family.

The power outages here in Louisiana are crazy. I haven't seen it this bad in the Metro New Orleans area in years.

I am glad everyone is OK. We lost power for 2 days or so after the August storm. We are also on a well so not having water was rough. We actually checked into a hotel for a few days because we needed internet to get work done.
I am hiring an electrician to put a generator quick connect on our power panel. I have the permit but I need the contractor to call me back.

I'm glad everyone's okay.

Taking a second and third look at my roof has revealed some shingles that need replacing. One's at a funny angle, kinda poking up, a few are flat out missing.

Not too bad, though, compared to some of what I've seen around the neighborhood.

On the plus side I found the business card of the contractor dad used to replace shingles after Katrina, and another who did a bigger job awhile further back.

Me checking in again. Finding phone numbers is no particular use, LOL! After all this time, a lot has changed.

My realtor knows a guy who's said he'll come take a look today. Hope that works out, but she says she'll move on to the next guy if not.
