Well, I’m going to get my place here but if all I’m doing is PT stuff again all month, I probably won’t end up posting but we’ll see.

1. PT exercises and stretches

2. I got the okay to try a step workout this weekend. She said keep it basic, platform only, no longer than 30 minutes and no twisty moves. YAY!!! So I did Jenny Ford’s Step Across America Oceanside CA. Afterwards I put in Cathe’s ICE To the Mat workout. I put on the ball and band sections and did a few exercises here and there that I knew were similar to my PT exercises. (Of course, I skipped more than I did but it was still nice to put in a dvd). After that I did a few more PT exercises that I hadn’t done yet and then some stretches.

3. Upper body weight portion on Cathe’s Low Impact Step dvd and went to PT in the afternoon.

4. I felt really good Sunday and Monday. Not so good today. so I just went for a 30 minute frigid cold walk outside and came home and did stretches. Not sure why I seemed to backslide.

5. I’m hurting more again today too. At PT, they had me do some rollouts with my feet on a stability ball on Monday for the first time. I’m wondering if that is what did it??? I’m going to talk to her about it when I go today. PT & stretching

6. PT & stretching

7. PT exercises at home and stretching.

8. Finally did a couple dvd workouts. I started with Leslie’s 10 Minute Light Walk, then did Cathe’s Total Body Sculpting from her Low Impact Step dvd (modifying roll-ins to glute lifts) then added a couple PT exercises that weren’t in the dvd. This was perfect for what I can do right now. I then started doing LITE Stretch #2 but then thought maybe I shouldn’t be doing some of those moves in the beginning so just did my own stretches.

9. Shoveled a little bit of snow to clear the driveway since we were supposed to get 4 inches last night and didn’t want it on top of the couple inches we didn’t shovel from last week. Also since we had the rare appearance of the sun, I went for a 30 minute walk. Of course, the sun went back in the clouds about halfway through my walk and then it felt pretty chilly but it least I got a walk in anyway.

10. Leslie’s 10 Minute Light Walk and PT exercises and stretches. I woke up a 3 am worrying about DS and this job hunt and I never was able to fall back to sleep.

11. Leslie’s 2 Mile Burn Body Fat and Caroline Jordan’s Sciatic Nerve Exercises on YouTube then a few more PT exercises that weren’t in the video and more stretches. After doing this, my hip felt good for the whole day surprisingly. Not sure if it was the exercises or just luck since I didn’t feel to bad to start with. Surprisingly still feeling pretty good this morning too.

12. Still feeling pretty good regarding my hip. Yay! I did Jenny Ford’s Mt. Rushmore Step Across America, the upper body portion of Cathe’s Total Body Sculpting. Then went to PT in the afternoon.

13. Cathe Total Body Sculpt upper body and PT in the afternoon.

14. Jessica Smith Fusion Walk from her Strength and Balance Walk dvd.

15. Power Fit Harmony Lower Body Workout.

16. I did one of the cardio workout from Power Fit Harmony and Cathe’s Total Body Sculpting workout.

17. Jenny Ford Niagara Falls Step and my PT exercises and stretches.

18. Leslie’s Green and Yellow Miles and Cathe’s Lower Body from Total Body Sculpting.

19. Cathe Upper Body Add On from her Basic Step dvd and went to PT this afternoon.
Since I’ve been feeling pretty good for the last 10 days other than a few minor pains here and there, I’m now going to be released from PT. Yay! They said if it bothers me to come back within 3 weeks and I can just continue back on. If it’s over 3 weeks, I would have to go back to my doctor for another prescription for PT. I can do leg workouts 2 - 3 times a week (start slow), and she said don’t just do lunges and squats. That I should incorporate some floor work on a regular basis (like what I did in PT.....glute raises, clam shells, leg lifts, etc). And, of course, keep up with my stretches everyday and preferably at least a couple times a day. Also, use my therapy balls or foam roller once or twice a day.

20. Jessica Smith 1 Mile Motivation Walk from Walk Strong 3, Margaret Richards Beauty to the Bone Lower Body workout 1 which is all floor work. She does a million reps though so I only did what I felt I could right now. Then I did a plank from my knees and held as long as I could. I then finished my workout up with JS bonus stretch from WS3. I’m getting my thyroid biopsy redone on Monday so can’t take any Aleve or anything starting today until after the procedure so I didn’t want to over do anything and aggravate my hip before then. After Monday I will push it a little more.

21. Eoin Finn POwer Yoga for Happiness Daily Dose of Bliss. I had to modify a few twists since I’m not supposed to do that but otherwise, all was good.

22. Leslie Walk (forget which one it is called) and Cathe’s upper body exercises from Total Body Sculpting.

23. Hip was bothering me again and it was nice out so I went for about a 30 minute walk...(at least I thought it was going to be nice out but there was actually more of a cold wind than I thought).

24. No workout today. I had to go get my biopsy on my thyroid again. Ugh, it ended up being a bigger pain than I was expecting. I had 3 nodules total on my thyroid. Last time my doctor ordered they biopsy 2 of the nodules which they did. One biopsy came back good the other was to be redone in 2 months which was yesterday. When I got there, since the nodule they had to do again was so close to another nodule (the 3rd one that my doctor didn’t order a biopsy on) this doctor ended up doing a biopsy on both! Ugh, holy cow! Between the numbing needles and the biopsy needles, I ended up with 15 needles being poked in me yesterday. Now I have a nice bruise on my throat too.

25. The warm-up from Cathe’s Lower Impact Step, then KCM Body Training warm-up and first 6 standing exercises, and about the first 5 or 6 exercises of the second section. Then did my own stretching. My legs are so sore today. I can definitely tell I have not been doing much exercise.

26. Nothing

27. Jessica Smith 6 Mile dvd....warm-up, Mile 1 Steady Burn and Mile 2 Upper Body Sculpt, and The Strong Knees and Hips Routine from her 5 Fat Burning Miles dvd then some stretching on my own.

28. Jessica Smith Stride, Stretch, Relax.

29. Leslie’s Brisk & Steady from her 10 minute dvd, then the lower body portion of Cathe’s Fit Tower Legs, Glutes & Core dvd (modifying where I needed of course), then stretching on my own.

I'm sorry if you're injured in any way but any purposeful movement is postworthy. I have not been in this check-in very long but I know some of the folks from my other checkin and I know they would agree that they are cheering you on in PT exercise.

We've all been there and coming back is HARD. Proud of you for persevering so keep posting !!

I will do more "new to me" (ntm) workouts this month

1. ntm? Tendu Toning 1, Leslie - I'm pretty sure I hadn't done this, but if I did it was a while ago and so I consider it ntm. I did all but band kick back series and abs. Those lunges really got my heart rate up. finished w/10 minute Leslie
2. Bootcamp Boogie - 40 minutes plus stretch. I was going to do a few chapters then move on to Jazzercise Burlesque but changed my mind because I'm prone to earworms. Some of the songs get stuck in my head for days/nights, sometimes making it hard to fall asleep. I wish I were joking.
3. ntm - Cardio Kettlebell, not ntm: Leslie (kettlebody by brook) It's not exactly fun, I don't think I've found a "fun" kettlebell workout yet, but I liked it better than Bell Body Sculpt. This got my heart rate up and made me sweat, although if it had been longer, I'd have probably been as tired as I was after KBKB Strength. Also did a Leslie mile.
4. Jessica Smith - I forgot to mention yesterday that my lower back felt iffy after the kb workout, uh oh, so I did a 40 minute Jessica Smith walk today. My back was normal again by the evening, thankfully.
5. XTF Toning - Lower, Leslie - I hadn't done this one in a while. I used 15s for the first round, then 20s for the next, but I really need to work on my grip; the dumbbells threatened to fall a few times. I then did Leslie's Lower Body Blast, touching the floor during the squat/lunge segments for a little more challenge.
6. XTF Toning - Upper, Leslie - ugh, I've become a wimp. I got through all those curls with 15 pounds, but I didn't remember it being this hard. I also decided to do the bonus supersets chapter with 15s and that was a mistake, haha, specifically for the "trio" part (curl, shoulder press, tricep extension). I did a few before my arms decided to rebel and say, "No, I'll do the curl/press, but leave triceps out of it." So I did that and my arms were shaking. I dropped down to 10s for the second set. I finished up with Leslie's upper body blast.
7. ntm - Dance That Walk 2 - workout 1. I was a bit disappointed when I heard the generic music. I thought I didn't care about music, but I guess I got spoiled by her YouTube songs, which make it more fun. I also had some trouble with the steps, which were a little different from what I'd done on YT, so these things made me not like the dvd. I thought, "Oh no, did I make a mistake in buying this?" Then we got to the last song and that was when the fun started; it moved quick and was a little more high energy. I then went back to see the second half and did a few more songs from there. My favorite was "Quick Step" which had a roaring 20s feel. And disco is always fun.
8. ntm - Bikini Sculpt, DTW 2 - A few months ago I got hold of all 3 Beach Babe sets, so now it's time to try them. Bikini Sculpt is from BB 1, a total body workout, though to me it felt upper body heavy. It was ok, I didn't love it or hate it, although the camera work drove me mad. I thought there was a glitch, but it turned out that they occasionally cut to different scenes and when they cut back to the instructor, she wasn't in sync with me anymore. grrr Also, I think the reps are uneven, but I'll let it slide. I popped in DTW2 to do the rest of the dvd and had more fun than I did yesterday, so thumbs up.
9. Gina B. YouTube - 20 minute, 10 minute, and 5 minute cool down
10. ntm - Hula Booty, Bikini Arms - Beach Babe 2. These are ok, I didn't work up a sweat, but I felt the burn in some parts.
11. KCM Lean Body Cardio, DTW 2 I felt like doing high impact and boxing, so LBC it was! I finished with my two favorite parts of Dance That Walk 2 (quick step and jive) and the cool down song.
12. --- rest ---
13. KCM warm up, MM21 Lower, (ntm)10 Minute Torchers - Lower Body Crush, 10 minute Leslie - I did MM21 lower last month and it left me sore for a couple of days, so I thought I'd not only do it again, but throw in a short 10 minute lower body workout. How bad could it be? Very. My poor legs were shaking and I cussed once after the "Isometric Squat Ladder", squat then hold squat for 1 second, squat/hold 2 seconds, and so on and then he held it for who knows how long at the end. oh my goodness! The last exercise was lunge ladder, but it didn't feel as bad since we switched legs. As I was getting my weights out of the way for my Leslie walk, I got up too fast and the world started to turn black. uh oh, so I sat down quick and waited for it to clear up. I was able to walk, but boy was that a close one.
14. KCM Strength & Stamina upper workout 1, DTW2 10 minutes - I started off doing the upper body/kettlebells premix (though during the kb part, I worked my abs) but then realized that we'd only be doing one set, so after doing the first part of the premix that used heavier weights, I went back to the menu and chose workout 1 no kbs. I worked my abs during the leg chapter to give my arms a break. Since I'd already done one set, I did 2 more, except for chest where I did all 3 (4 total). Instead of doing one arm press, I did both for all sets.
15. ntm - Beach Babe 3 Coconut Core & Booty, Bootcamp Boogie express 2 - I'd be lying if I said that I'm enjoying the BB workouts. I don't hate them, either, but they're nothing special. That said, wow, this one made my whole core sore. I especially felt it in bed while turning around to get a better sleep position. ouch! I didn't know I had muscles there. The Boogie express wasn't one of my favorites, so I'll have to keep that in mind for next time. It felt too slow and repetitive.
16. ntm - Jazzercise Latin Live - I was only going to try it for about 20 minutes but I kept going and before I knew it, it was over. I have no hips, so I'm sure I looked nothing like everyone else, but I tried. I also didn't flail as much as I thought I would, which is always a plus. I especially liked Judi's chapters because they weren't as dancey.
17. JNL 10 Minute Total Body - Firm warm up, JNL 10 minute that I turned into 30 minutes by doing 3 rounds. I do each circuit 3x before moving on. For the first 2 rounds of the last circuit, I did calf raises and mountain climbers instead of "fusion four" (standing elbow to opposite knee) and burpees. For the final round I did the darn burpees, telling myself to just get to five, but since I wasn't as burnt out as I thought I'd be, I did another 5. I know I'm supposed to be doing workouts I haven't done before, but they use light weights or body weight and right now I'm enjoying using "heavier" weights.
18. ntm - BB2 HiiT The Beach 2 - I really should learn to preview and/or read reviews. I expected a cardio workout, but it was cardio & "toning". Again, not in love with it, I guess I'm not used to their style. The reps are sometimes uneven, not much warning about what's next, and even when there is, I'm not sure what they're doing. Or I'm just being picky lately, I don't know. I'm glad I didn't spend much on these dvds, although I'm sure if I'd paid full price, I would have found a reason to love them. lol
19.ntm - BB3 Ultimate Booty Call - I didn't preview (one day I'll do it) but it's a booty workout so it shouldn't have upper body work. Wrong! Oh well, that's ok, since yesterday's weight work was light. There were combination moves that got my heart rate up. Unlike yesterday's workout that had 30 second breaks, which I thought was too long, this one had 15, which in some cases wasn't enough. haha I like this one and would do it again.
20. ntm - BB1 Surfer Girl, HiiT The Beach - SG is 25 minutes, HtB is 18 and I think as standalone workouts it wouldn't feel like "enough", but combined, oh boy! It made me sweat; not dripping all over, but more than I expected. I needed the breaks after cardio (I think it was 30 seconds of each: jump squats, side shuffle, burpees, plank jacks) late update: - my right shoulder hurt when I'd lift it, my right lat was hurting as well. oh and my right knee, too, but I don't know if it was from my workout or from whacking it against a sturdy table leg. I took an ibuprofen before bed.
21. rest - right shoulder and knee are ok, lat felt weird, didn't want to tear anything so I did nothing
22. JS Cardio Party, Gina B YouTube - i thought i'd keep it light since I want to be careful with my lat. The Gina B. walk was actually led by someone else and he's an excellent instructor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxhzoswX_Uc He doesn't just say to pivot or turn, he says something like, 'right leg forward, turn over your left shoulder'. Sometimes (ok, most of the time) I don't know in which direction to turn. lol I want to try a few more of his because he's so adorable.
23. ntm - Jeanette Jenkins Sexy Abs Cardio Sculpt- today I did all but one chapter I hadn't done before, so I'd consider this dvd a virgin no more!
24. Leslie Walk off Fat Fast - My right side (lat, it seems like) is not right again, argh. So I did Leslie's 20 minute walk, plus 15 minutes of the 30 minute walk.
25. Strength & Stamina, 10 Minute Torchers - workout 1, no swings premix. I'm still being careful with my right side, so for upper body I only worked out the left side and it was perfect. I finished with 10 MT Lower Body Crush, which I didn't find to be as challenging as the first time.
26. 5 Mile Ultra Fat Burning Walk - I used to only be able to take Leslie in low doses, but I guess I'm mellowing as I age. I did 4 miles and 8 minutes of the 5th, followed by a 2 minute stretch.
27. ntm - BarreAmped Sleek & Toned Prenatal - I found it cheap ($2 shipped for disc only, on ebay) so I thought I'd give it a try, especially after reading reviews which said it's on par with her other BarreAmped workouts. I found it just a little easier, but not by much. I got a little warm during some of the leg work but cooled down again during "cardio tone". This would be good for a light day. I only worked my left side with weights for the arm work. I didn't do the Mat and Stretch chapters. (did wu, light weight work, thigh, seat, and cardio tone)
28. Leslie Miracle Miles disc 4 - I didn't use the band or follow leslie at all during the band segments. In band segment mile 1, I walked in place for a few seconds before hitting my ff button to get to mile 2. For mile 2 during the band part, I did walk and side step, and jogged the final minute. For the band segments of mile 3, I jogged 30 seconds, walked 15 seconds. And finally, in mile 4 I did 30 seconds of either jogging, jacks, and "squat hops", followed by 15 seconds of walking. That got my heart rate up!
29. ntm - Pure Barre Pure Results Seat - I bought this a year ago at Goodwill (sealed) and finally decided to try it. I did Warm Up which included upper body and abs, Seat, Thighs, and c/d for a total of about 43 minutes. Some parts were tough, and I was shaking.
