I walk for miles in my Aerosoles sandals. Like walking on a cloud and you look reasonably fashionable. I don't own athletic shoes cuz I hate the way they look.

I also wear running shoes for walking. The walking shoe choices are quite drab. I like that the running shoes are nice and light.

I'm with the others. In every race I've ever participated, including the 40 miler, I wore running shoes. Imo, there's no difference at all between running and walking shoes. If anything, running shoes will be much better suited for comfort than walking shoes, especially if you'll be walking or having them on for a long time.

I don't run so I can't comment on using walking shoes for running but I've used running shoes for walking outside and found them fine. However, I do prefer to use cross trainers for inside cardio, especially Leslie walks, because I find that running shoes do not support me enough for lateral movements.

I agree..my running shoes would always start coming off my heel while doing lunges. Just bought my first pair of cross trainers..they hold to my foot better, I think because the top of the shoe (near laces) is thinner and less rigid.
