Question Have you ever had a DVD case disintegrate?

I was looking at my Lee Holden DVDs and remembered one I had ordered a very long time ago that was still in shrink-wrap. I pulled it off the shelf and it made a weird crunchy sound.

The case crumbled inside that shrink-wrap like it was made of potato chips. I crunched the whole thing and opened it. There was nothing but black powder left. It had a funky chemical smell.

I've owned hundreds of movies and fitness DVDs and never had that happen!

Naturally, being a VFer, I had spare cases.

How strange!

That's weird and different and I can't say that I've heard of that before.

So I guess that means once I get around to unwrapping some DVD's that have languished far longer than I should publicly admit, perhaps I should do it over the trash can.

It's one of the reasons that infant car seats "expire". The plastic does disintegrate.

I had a Jill Miller do that..just a big bunch of crunchy inside shrinkwrap. The dvd works great!

I've had a couple of Jari Loves that did that. I think in at least one case, i bought a used copy that had been packaged in a replacement case that was very cheap. One dissolved so much that I now just store it carefully tucked inside its paper sleeve. My DVDs really only move from drawer to player and back again, so it's safe enough, but yeah, that was very weird.
