Do any of you use visualization to help you reach a goal? No matter how much I say I will go to bed earlier and get up with the alarm I almost never do it. This has gone on for years and I don't know how to make myself do what I know I need to do (in this area especially), for my health as well as my productivity. I know all the podcasts and articles say put your alarm across the room so you have to get out of bed to turn it off. Never works for me, I just get back in bed. I already know I can't visualize getting up on time in the morning when the alarm goes off bc my brain very easily believes the visualization that I have gotten out of bed when I am actually still lying there half asleep. I actually think I have gotten up and started the day. So I'm thinking about trying to visualize at night, before I go to bed, the ideal morning where I get up with the alarm and don't get back in bed and then follow my morning routine without getting sidetracked or delayed. The first trick is remembering to actually do the visualization though! Just curious if anyone has tried the technique and had success. Thanks!

I'm still doing morning & evening yoga! I agree re "challenges" - I'm not concerned with a challenge per se, but I like having a series of classes (or meditations) laid out for me. I'm still picking practices mainly from Do Yoga With Me.

Long story short - apart from nothing twisty and nothing that bends my knee beyond 30º, he totally trusted me to adapt appropriately and do what I had been doing. Physio didn't give me a plan, just those minor restrictions.
I'm glad you went to see a professional! Wow - a completely torn ACL & meniscus is a pretty tough injury.

Vantreesta - I do practice visualization in connection with my Reiki practice.

Years back I followed the Body for Life program. In the book, Bill Philips wrote about the power of visualization and that's how I got familiar with it. It really did help me achieve my BFL goals. I should get in the habit of practicing non-spiritual visualization again, and imagine myself not snacking.

Day 32:
~BellyFit Flow: Ice Queen
~Insight Timer: The River of Life

Beth & Pat - I’ve always wanted to like Barbara Benagh’s practices, but I also find them disjointed. Some have a lot of alternating standing & floor.

Vantreesta - Can’t say I’ve ever used visualization to achieve a goal. I do find guided visualization meditations very relaxing though.

Thanks, Pat! Body for Life sounds familiar. I wonder if I have that book. I'll have to look. I listened on Insight Timer last night to Visualize Your Perfect Day. I kind of kept dozing off and still didn't get up great today but i assume like most things it takes time. I should try listening before i get in bed!

I'm an early riser, waking up before the alarm clock goes off. But since moving to Europe I used to struggle with the lack of light in the early hours in winter.
I found that those alarm clocks, that mimick sunlight and begin to light the room gradually half an hour before the alarm starts, are very helpful. Have you tried something similar? I know it has nothing to do with visualisation, but it might help.

I appreciate the suggestion, Ilde. I do have a sunrise alarm and have been using it for several years. Initially I think it helped me wake up and especially helped put me in a better mood when I woke up but I don't think it's helping that much anymore. Although I guess it's possible without it I would be even worse! (What a terrible thought!)

My dad said it sounds like when he quit smoking. Until he set his mind on it and really committed to it as smthg he wanted to do, no tricks or tips could help.

My aunt suggested one of those alarm clocks that rolls around the floor and you have to catch it to turn it off. I may have to look into that.

Just checked my fitness bookshelf and I was right, Body for Life was there! Thanks for mentioning it, Pat! Looking forward to digging into it.
