Hurt my ankle, need nonweightbearing exercise

Hi all!

I've had a many year history of ankle sprains, which I have rehabed since I am a PT. Well today I fell in my backyard and had a grade 3 sprain with avulsion fracture. I have to wait until next week to see the Orthopedic, but I am kinda lost on this diagnosis. As a PT, I have rehabiliatated lots of ankle sprains but none with a avulsion fracture.

Also I am looking for non weightbearing dvds. I have margaret richards getting better, is there anything else anyone would suggest??

And any suggestions about my diagnosis is appreciated too. The only good thing was the doctor said it didnt even look like a sprain because I had compres wrapped it, iced it, elevated it as soon as it happened. I only had a little swelling.

You didn't ask for streaming workouts, but Jessica Smith has a couple of workouts that are done entirely seated in a chair, I think. Check out her Youtube channel.

I am the queen of ankle sprains. Since you are a PT...you know what to do and are seeing a specialist.

Last time my ankle flaked out I did Margaret Richard's "Getting Better", T-Tapp's "Hit the Floor" and "Hit the Floor Harder", The Firm's "Sculpted Buns, Hips and Thighs" and a lot of Classical Stretch all floor episodes. Are there any "Sit and Be Fit" episodes on YouTube? Check out Jessica Smith's YouTube workouts, also.

If you can stomach it when you're able to work standing up, "V-Core" is excellent for ankle and foot rehab. Emily is a bit annoying, though. PM me if you want to borrow it.

Youtube has what looks like a good selection of chair yoga - different lengths and abilities seem to be covered. Pilates would be great.

So sorry to hear about your injury. I've been in recovery for a severe ankle break (surgery, 2 plates, 7 screws) since the beginning of the year so have way more experience with this than I ever wished to have. Check out YouTube, Jessica Smith does have a seated workout that I used quite a bit while NWB. There's quite a few others on there as well but hers was my favorite. I also did some of my TurboFire/Jam workouts while seated and upper body workouts. I also did some floor stuff for lower body but the tricky part was getting up and down off the floor. I just made sure I was near the couch or coffee table so I wouldn't have to bear weight. I'm off to work right now but if I think of anything else I'll come back. Good luck with your recovery and happy healing.

Also I don't know if you are on Facebook or not but I found and continue to find this group very helpful. https://www.facebook.com/groups/368618886485089/ I don't know much about your specific fracture but I know there are a few on there that had that kind and may be able to answer any questions you might have. It is a closed group so you have to request to join but I honestly don't know what I would have done without the support there.

I really wanted to get Margaret Richards Getting Better because I need a sitting down kind of workout myself due to back and knee injuries from getting hit by a car a year ago. My daughter decided to get her itouch wet so my plans for that went out the window along with the money to replace it.

Barlates has alot of floor workouts as well. I really love her stuff. Ballet Beautiful too.
