NO you guys! no no no no NO! No new things that I have not heard of that sound good!! Fitstix, what the? I am afraid to look them up in case I fall in love with the idea. I am picturing a dowel though, and lord knows, I have seen enough of these. Are these the ones that wiggle-wobble as you do stuff and build in functional strength?

Illaria's Powerstrike workouts are knee friendly, except for Bodystrikes - which is a lower body workout that can be a little hard on the knees.

To offer a slightly different perspective, if I do Turbo Jam very often -- even though I exclusively choose the low impact modifications -- my knees start to get very twinge-y and start to hurt. I think it's because there are alot of twisting movements at high speed, so if lateral torque hurts your knees this might be something to bear in mind. More generally, I find with turbo jam everything is done at such a rapid pace that it's difficult to maintain proper form and so injury is always a risk if you aren't careful. By contrast, I've never had any problems using KCM 30 Minutes Kickbox.

One of the only "cardio" videos I've done consistently/a lot that never negatively impact my knees in any way was Shiva Rea's Yoga Trance Dance. Not everyone's cup of tea by any means, but there is something to be said for just doing what your body naturally wants to do. My other fail-safe, sweaty (but you don't notice) and pain free cardio workout is swimming, although I don't do it anymore, unfortunately.

stay far away from the flame known as VF after Total Fitness starts carrying Fitstix products.
http://thefitstix.com/products.html

Fitstix adds intensity by using the upper body and core more with simple lower body moves but doesn't strain the upper body joints like dumb bells or Heavyhands.
