I'm trying to write a description of each of the LIIFT4 workouts in that thread. I've been saving them in a Word document so I can print it out for next time so I know what weights to have handy. I tried to change the title to include LIIFT4 but couldn't figure out how to do it.

Hey, general availability of Liift4 is Oct. 1! That felt like a long ways off when it was announced, but now it feels like ... the exact right time to follow up my current rotation. (I'm in Week 4 of the 6-week Walk Strong Master Rotation, and I have some vacation time in September, so starting the next thing on Oct. 1 is perfect!)

I completed week seven on Tuesday. I will begin week 8 (the final week) this weekend. My general impression is that LIIFT4 is a good solid intermediate program. I still add an additional leg day each week. Even though the HIIT components work the legs, LIIFT does not provide enough leg volume for me. Week seven has a full body hiit day which I enjoyed.

I completed LIIFT 4 on 9/4/18. These re my final assessments-
Pros: 1. Workouts are 30 minutes 2. Ab work is included with every workout 3. Joel is very personable and a good workout leader. He is very encouraging and not overbearing 4. A cardio component is included with most workouts 5. The workout sequencing is varied enough to keep boredom at bay Cons: 1.Not enough weighted leg volume (for my needs or taste) 2. The shoulders exercises are over emphasized 3. The exercise selections should vary more 4. Perhaps more age diversity among the participants I realized after the second week of the program that there is not enough volume for strength gains or fitness gains so I added on additional weight workout throughout. I think that this would be true for any advanced exerciser but the program is really geared toward intermediates. I did this program as a needed rest from my other rotations and it served my need well. I did enjoy the 8 weeks and would recommend this program for intermediates who enjoy light to moderate lifting and those wanting a change of pace from their usual training regime. Joel was very good at reminding us of the basics of good form and gave some solid advice that anyone of any fitness level could benefit from. |
