I'm cautious in most of my backbends too. One particular pose that has always felt super-awkward to me is shoulderstand...I just can't get comfortable in it (and I don't teach it). But I love the variation of supported legs up on a block!

I've been doing Tara Brach's Compassionate Meditation Challenge, which is every day for 10 days. Today is Day 7. I have listened to Tara's talk and done her meditation each day (about 10-15 minutes total), but she also includes longer interviews with some famous others (today is Sandra Oh; she's also had Elizabeth Gilbert, Caroline Kennedy), and I've only kind of half-listened to those.

I'm also planning to start reading Max Strom's A Life Worth Breathing tonight--has anyone else read this one?

Congrats for those almost done!

I did start my reading last night but only read a little. I might do Yoga for Tim tonight since today's practice is only 30 minutes.

Day 39:
~Reading: The Daily Stoic, day 28
~YC: Restore Against the Wall

Beth - I don’t mind shoulder stand so much, but plow is challenging for me. I always use a couple of folded blankets under my shoulders & upper back in both of those poses to ease the strain on my neck.

Pam, I can do plow (on a good day!), but it's another pose I tend to avoid. Once in a great while I'll still do a Pilates rollover.

Today I started a Yoga for Tim practice, but it was a little more strength-based than I had expected, so I only did about 12 minutes (I had already done a tough weights workout!). I used my time for meditation instead.

Good morning yoginis! Here's my Day 36 report, all from Glo:

~ Inner Sanctuary meditation with Amy Ippoliti
~ Practice to Relieve Stress with Rod Stryker

The hatha with Rod Stryker was different. He incorporated breathing techniques with each move, such as going into uttanasana while exhaling 6 times, then 7, etc., then incorporating breath holding. Some of the moves were flowy, again with numbered exhales, inhales and holds. Afterward was a seated breath meditation with the same principles. I could feel stress falling off in chunks!

Pam and Beth - shoulder stand and plow are two faves, but I have to work back up to them. It was one of my goals for this sadhana, which again fell by the wayside.

Cate - I meant to do more Ravi and Ana too. Sigh! Good reminder to pull out Quick Fixes and House Calls.

Sherry you're doing great, heading toward the finish line.

Mmm, Pat, that sounds like a nice practice! I don't think I've done anything with RS since that older DVD he had.
