Oh, one more thing ... keep the kitties away. The radar noses in this house can detect when seafood is thawing and we have to take precautions.

Thanks! One of our cats comes running when I take out a can of tuna. He does that before I have even opened it! I only eat it a few times a year, but he always knows.

It came out well. My son loved it. I had to use bottled minced garlic since that was I had on hand. I will use fresh next time.

I'm glad it worked out. I use the bottled minced garlic over fresh garlic now. It's been a game changer for me. I think it tastes just as good as the fresh and it's so much easier. I remember my SIL using the bottled garlic years ago and I never went for it. I'm sorry I waited so long. BTW, my SIL is from Italy and cooks everything from scratch but the bottled garlic gets her approval.

My cats do this too! I don't know how they know the difference between a can of new potatoes and a can of tuna before it's opened, but they definitely do!

Yes the bottled minced garlic is a staple in my house. I also use frozen chopped onions sometimes. My DH didn't know such a thing existed and it was as if the skies opened and the angels sang when I introduced them to him. My mom used them as a shortcut and she was a "from scratch" cook for sure.

Sherry, glad your scampi turned out well! I don't much like dealing with shrimp if I have to behead and de-vein them. I leave that to my DH.

LOL yes that's how I felt when I used the minced garlic! I'll have to try the frozen chopped onions now. Thanks.
