Exercising barefoot?

Anyone else exercises barefoot? During this hot sumer I discovered the joy of working out barefoot. Just don't drop that dumbbell on you foot.... :-)

I have taken lately to doing some weight work with bare feet. Yoga of course with bare feet. Anything with impact, though, I still wear shoes (and socks because I feel icky in athletic shoes without them!)

I do everything indoors barefoot.

I wear pretty minimalist shoes when out running, too.

I do yoga and stretching, and sometimes floorwork and stability ball ab work, barefoot, but all other times, I wear shoes (with custom orthotics).

If you have perfect allignment, then working out barefoot might not be harmful, but if you pronate (like moi!) or your foot has any other misalignment, working out barefoot can makethings worse.

Also, I've knocked my toes against too many dumbbells and barbells just walking around the house to go barefoot when weight training!

I do everything indoors barefoot, except the treadmill.

Up until this past year, I spent so much time during the week teaching dance that my feet were always aching from spending all that time in different dance shoes and they started feeling so much better when I would work out at home barefoot.

I do all my weight work barefoot. Step-ups, I make sure I have shoes on cuz it feels better. The TLTs feel better to me with shoes, too.

I have flat feet and weak ankles therefore I never do conventional workouts without shoes on. I tried to do a Leslie workout without shoes once but the twisting and wobbling made the experience very uncomfortable.

This summer I have been doing dance workouts that allow me to go barefoot: Zumba (except the Super K one which has a lot of lunges), belly dance, Samba Party. I keep my socks on though because the raised surface of the carpet causes an unpleasant burning sensation.

Exercising feels so good without the weight of the trainers. Moreover, that makes preparation time shorter and thus removes one of my typical excuses for not working out regularly.
